Dutchess County Long Rifles sponsored by the American Legion Post 178 in Millerton, NY, offers youth ages 8-21 safe training in fi****ms and archery disciplines. Dutchess County Long Rifles is a youth shooting sports program dedicated to teaching the importance of fi****ms and archery responsibility, safety, and skill development. Through hands-on training, participants build confidence, disciplin

e, and leadership while gaining valuable life skills. Our program is proudly partnered with the American Legion Post 178 in Millerton, NY, and welcomes youth ages 8-21. We provide opportunities to learn a variety of shooting disciplines, including rifle, shotgun, pistol, and archery. Dutchess County Long Rifles is committed to creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment where young people can develop responsibility, focus, and respect for themselves and others.

Our Story

Dutchess County Long Rifles is a certified 4H Shooting Sports club whose mission is to teach and train the importance of fi****ms and archery responsibility and safety while using the shooting sports disciplines to teach important life skills through employing the 4H wheel, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Dutchess County Long Rifles, as a NYS 4H Shooting Sports Club certified with the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Dutchess County (CCEDC). CCEDC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization and is part of the Cooperative Extension land grant system, a partnership between County, State, and Federal governments that is administered in New York State through Cornell University. Each county's Cooperative Extension association is independently run with oversight from Cornell University, and works to serve the needs of the county in which it is located. We have an extensive system for getting input from diverse interests in the community, and we welcome your ideas and involvement in our efforts.
