Just wanted to let everyone know, if you did not get the email from Elizabeth yesterday that I have shared with my bosses my intention to retire at the end of January 2027.

It has been and will continue to be, my honor and privilege to work with the greatest group of volunteers who give and give and give again to help bring help, hope and healing to those affected by disaster. You have allowed this stranger from the north (sort of) to work with you and for you.

Many of you have gone from doing disaster work over there when the storms come, to actively looking for ways to serve people in your local communities. God is using you to do amazing things in the lives of hurting people. Continue to faithfully serve those around you, but do not forget the most important thing you can leave them with is the Gospel.

Please pray for God's wisdom and guidance as TBMB looks for the next person to come and fill this position. Pray also for the person that fills this position. Pray that this person will be both a teacher and a learner. Pray that God will use this person to take TBDR to even greater heights of service that brings God all of the glory.

To God be the Glory for the great things He has done as he has worked through each of you, the service you do and the friendship you have given me.

Pray for me as I make this transition. Having worked 1-3 jobs at a time all my adult life, it is weird to even contemplate not having a job to go to. Pray that God gives me the wisdom and strength to finish this chapter well and guidance on what the next chapter will look like.

I look forward to continuing to work with you over the next 8 months.

With storms and warnings starting to pop from the west and moving eastward across the state. All units are on ALERT for the next 24 hours.

If storms hit in your area, when it is safe to do so, go out and assess the damage, respond as needed. Let us know what you encounter.

Be careful to stay out of the way of first responders.

Pray for all that are in the way of the storms.

2026 HURRICANE SEASON 🌀 Hard to believe, but it's now 100 days away. The early outlook is for the number of storms to be closer to average or slightly above average. (It’s also February and by no means a lock or guarantee this early).

Long-range models are showing that the current La Niña is projected to flip to El Niño by the peak of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Historically, if that occurs, that would create higher wind shear across the Tropical Atlantic and Caribbean…helping to suppress or lower tropical activity. Stating the obvious, that doesn’t mean you can’t have hurricanes or US landfalls. Remember, it’s about impact, not just the number of storms.

Something we’ll have to watch would be the potential for warmer than average water temperatures across the Atlantic Basin…which could counteract the influence from El Niño and provide additional fuel for storms.

Although I won’t be on TV this hurricane season, that doesn’t mean I won’t be with you. In fact, it’ll be the opposite. I’ll be able to provide even more updates than ever before on multiple online and digital platforms. You can always trust me to be with you every step of the way all season long 24/7 with no hype, just the facts. In the meantime, continue to enjoy the off-season!

This morning I had the privilege of presenting Elizabeth Holmes with a Robert Dixon award for outstanding service in disaster relief. This is a national award presented by Southern Baptist Disaster Relief and Send Relief to a person who's faithfully served in disaster relief fot multiple years. Elizabeth has served the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board in the area of disaster relief for over 21 years and is a big help to everyone who knows her.
