Super Worm Moon
(East West Bridge Teachings)
This March 20th, 2019, the Full Moon reaches its peak on the same day as the Spring Equinox. The last time this rare event took place on the same date was back in 1981.
This month’s Full Moon is known as the Worm Moon. It was given its name as many earthworms emerge to the surface to avoid being drowned in the muddy grounds of the winter thaw. The sky tells us it’s Spring time, a time to come out, be noticed, explore and embrace the newness around you. Use this Spring time and the teachings of the Worm Moon to make your way out from the Winter slumber mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Mentally, the worm has a brain that connects nerves from their skin to detect light, vibration, taste and guides muscle movements. With no eyes, ears or lungs, the body absorbs the vibration of the worms’ surroundings. Look to the Worm Moon to be more like the worm Mentally and be guided to rely more on your intuition, absorbing what your surroundings have to offer as you make your way out from the Winter’s darkness.
Emotionally, the worm has 5 hearts and since they sense and feel through the body via the brain, the Worm Moon can teach us to connect our hearts and minds so we can walk in balance. The Spring Equinox is a time when day and night are equal – a time of balance. The worm can also be seen as a balanced creature being a hermaphrodite. Pray to the Worm Moon to help you focus on Balance in your life.
Physically, this is the time worms emerge from the earth and birds return to feed and consume the worms. Accept the Worm Moon and Spring time as a time to start new projects, look at certain mindsets and create goals to help you physically bring forth manifestations that others can feed on and consume.
Spiritually, the earthworm plays an important role in aerating and draining the soil, an essential part in prepping the earth for life and growth. As you look to the Worm Moon, ask yourself if you aerated the ground you stand on making sure you’ve provided a strong foundation where you can easily reap the benefits of what you create and bring forth. Have you honored your Teachers and Elders who have helped you to aerate your soil and have provided you a stable foundation needed to start anew?
