50 Years of Serving Their Community! ๐ŸŽ‰

This year, VPhA member Bremo Pharmacy is celebrating an incredible milestone โ€” 50 years in business!

Reaching the 50-year mark is an accomplishment for any business, but it feels particularly meaningful in todayโ€™s challenging pharmacy environment. Through decades of change, Bremo has continued to evolve, innovate, and find new ways to meet the needs of the patients and communities they serve.

Their story is a great example of what independent community pharmacy can be โ€” deeply rooted in its community while continuing to adapt and look for new and innovative ways to provide care.

Weโ€™re proud to have Bremo Pharmacy as part of the VPhA family and excited to celebrate this milestone with their entire team. Congratulations on 50 years and hereโ€™s to what comes next!

Check out the story below to learn more about Bremoโ€™s 50-year journey and how they continue to innovate in patient care.

Advocacy happens everywhere..NOT just at the General Assembly.

VPhA members continue to build relationships with policymakers and community leaders across Virginia, creating opportunities to talk about the pharmacy landscape, the challenges facing our profession and patients, and the work VPhA is doing to strengthen pharmacy practice across the Commonwealth.

A special thank you to VPhA members Brent Foster and Tim Robertson, who have been especially active in making these connections - whether inviting leaders into the pharmacy or meeting them where they are in the community.

Recent conversations have included Delegate Mitchell Cornett, Senator Mark Warner, Congressman Rob Wittman, Senator Schuyler VanValkenburg, and Shannon Taylor.

These relationships matter. By making sure decisionmakers hear directly from pharmacists about what's happening on the ground, our members help VPhA educate, advocate, and build support for policies that protect patient access and strengthen pharmacy in Virginia.

Strong advocacy starts with strong relationships and we're grateful to the members helping us build them across the Commonwealth.

Collaboration in action for Virginia pharmacy! ๐Ÿ’Š

VPhA was pleased to join our colleagues at the Virginia Society of Health-System Pharmacists (VSHP) in providing feedback to the Virginia Board of Pharmacy as part of its advisory panel on pharmacist-initiated therapeutic interchange.

Senate Bill 418, which took effect July 1, creates new opportunities for pharmacists to help patients maintain timely access to medications when facing drug shortages or payer-driven formulary changes.

We appreciate the Board of Pharmacy for bringing pharmacy stakeholders to the table as it works through implementation, and weโ€™re grateful to our partners at VSHP for working alongside us to ensure the pharmacy perspective is represented.

VPhA will continue to stay engaged as the Board develops its final guidance later this year.

Congratulations to VPhA Board Member Amanda Cavness!

Weโ€™re proud to celebrate Amanda Cavness, who was honored recently with the Olivier Bugnon Award at the 2026 FIP World Congress. This international award recognizes an outstanding pharmacist who has made significant contributions to pharmacy practice around the world.

What an incredible recognition of Amandaโ€™s leadership and impact on the profession. Weโ€™re fortunate to have her leadership right here in Virginia โ€” and on the VPhA Board!

Congratulations, Amanda! Well deserved! ๐Ÿ‘
