California’s travel and tourism industry is an engine for economic growth.

•Tourism generated $117.5B in spending in California in 2014, up 3.6 percent from 2013.

•During 2014, travel spending in California directly supported 1,027,000 jobs, up 4.2 percent from 2014, while earnings increased 6.7 percent to $38.1B.

•Travel spending generated the greatest number of jobs in accommodation and food services (582,000) and arts, entertainment and recreation (247,000) in 2014.

•Travel spending in 2014 generated $9.3B in state and local tax revenue.
