As Bears Roaring On heads toward the end of the game, we're celebrating another reason to back our Bears.

Nine Women's Basketball student-athletes earned a spot on the SUNYAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

The team finished the spring semester with a 3.425 GPA and holds a 3.514 cumulative GPA.

Practice. Games. Teammates. Classes. Being a student-athlete asks a lot, and these Bears keep showing up.

There's still time to show up for them, too.

YES, THAT'S OUR SWIM TEAM. OUTSIDE. IN JANUARY.

Last January, the Bears traded a North Country winter for a training trip to Florida.

The sunshine wasn't exactly a hardship, but the trip was about much more than warmer weather. It gave our student-athletes dedicated time to train, come together as a team and prepare for the championship stretch of their season.

Swimming & Diving wants to head south again this winter.

And on the final day of Bears Roaring On, you can help get them there.

Travel, lodging, training and meals for an entire team add up quickly. Whether you help cover a meal, a piece of the travel or give whatever amount feels right, your gift can help put another Florida training trip within reach.

ONE MORE DAY TO BACK THE BEARS

Before Bears Roaring On wraps up tonight, take another look at that kid in the photo.

THAT KID BECAME A COLLEGE ATHLETE

There were a lot of years between this photo and putting on a Potsdam uniform.

Growing up. Finding a sport. Putting in the work. And eventually becoming a member of Potsdam Track & Field.

Now, your gift can help support what comes next.

As the Track & Field program grows, so does what it takes to give today's Bears the equipment they need to train and compete.

Javelins can cost $250-$600 each. Indoor throwing weights run $350-$600 each, discuses $150-$350 each and shot puts $100-$200 each.

And with a growing number of sprinters, additional sets of starting blocks cost $300-$700 per set.

Those are big numbers. Your gift doesn't have to be.

Your $25 can join someone else's $50, $100 or $250. Together, those gifts can help put more of the equipment today's Bears need into their hands.
That kid grew up.

THESE BEARS SHOW UP FOR MORE THAN GAME DAY.

On November 8, SUNY Potsdam student-athletes will trade their equipment for rakes as they head into the community for the 19th annual Leaf-Raking Day.

Helping neighbors, lending a hand and showing what it means to be part of something bigger than their sport.

This is part of the student-athlete experience worth supporting.

As Bears Roaring On heads into its final days, here's another reason to be proud of the young people wearing Potsdam across their chests.

BEARS ROARING ON HAS A FEW MORE MILES TO GO.

And so does this Bear.

THERE ARE A LOT OF MILES BETWEEN THESE TWO PHOTOS.

That young runner had no idea where all those miles would lead.

Turns out, Potsdam was on the route.

Today, this Bear competes on both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams, putting in the miles through two seasons with the same coaching staff behind him.

So we asked the coaches:

If you had an extra $1,000, what would you do with it?

The answer was easy.

Uniforms.

A new top and bottom cost about $80 per athlete.

Which means this one is pretty simple:

$80 can put a uniform on a Bear.

Give $80 and you've got one covered. Give $40 and you're halfway there. Give what works for you and help the team get closer to outfitting the next one.

That kid in the first photo did the growing.
