What a way to end the spring kickball season. 🌈

Today we celebrated another incredible season of kickball at MJ’s Tavern surrounded by the athletes, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who make this league what it is.

We were also honored to present a $5,000 check to Stand Up For Kids Hampton Roads, our 2026 beneficiary.

🚨 We NEED Strong Male Mentors & a STRONG Case Manager 🚨

Every single day, young people walk through our doors carrying trauma, abandonment, fear, anger, and survival instincts no child should ever have to learn.

Some have never had a positive male role model.
Some have never had someone consistently show up for them.
Some have never heard the words:
“I’m proud of you.”
“You matter.”
“You’re capable of more.”

That is why we are urgently looking for strong, compassionate MALE MENTORS willing to simply show up, build trust, play UNO, share a meal, teach life skills, listen without judgment, and remind these young men that they are not alone. 💜

We are ALSO hiring for a STRONG CASE MANAGER.

Not someone looking for an easy desk job.
We need someone trauma-informed, compassionate, organized, resourceful, and willing to fight for youth who often feel invisible to the rest of the world.

This work is hard.
It is emotional.
It is exhausting sometimes.

But it is also life-changing.

Because sometimes the difference between homelessness and hope… is one person refusing to give up on a young person.

Last night, an 18-year-old young man walked through our doors after being referred to us by PiN Ministry. This is exactly why community partnerships matter. Because when organizations work together, lives can change. ❤️

He is newly 18. He came from an incredibly abusive situation. Before finding us, he had been surviving by sleeping in an electrical closet inside a parking garage at the oceanfront.

Yes… the same parking garages many of us use when we come down to enjoy dinner, concerts, vacations, or a night out by the beach.

While we were making memories, this young man was simply trying to survive.

No teenager should ever have to wonder where they are going to sleep safely at night. No young person should have to choose between abuse and homelessness.

Tonight, he is safe. Tonight, he has a hotel room, a shower, food, and people who care about what happens to him next.

But the hard truth is this: our emergency shelter funding is running dangerously low.

Many of our grants operate on July-to-June funding cycles, and this time of year is always incredibly difficult. The need does not stop just because funding runs out. Young people are still out there. Still scared. Still homeless. Still trying to survive.

We are asking our community to help us keep this young man safely sheltered while we work to secure permanent housing and ensure he never has to return to the streets.

There are youth in our community with no safe place to sleep tonight.

As our grant cycle comes to a close at the end of June, we urgently need financial support to continue opening hotel rooms for youth experiencing homelessness.
