The girls of Girl Scout Troop 41353 shared a little joy with all 83 residents of Mebane Ridge Assisted Living! All received blankets, crossword and seek and find puzzle books, and of course, candy canes! Due to pandemic safety precautions to protect both the residents and the girls, we couldn't sing Christmas carols this year, but the girls still wanted to spread a little Christmas cheer by including handmade Christmas cards with their gifts. From the bottom of the hearts of the girls and volunteers of Girl Scout Troop 41353, have a very Merry Christmas!!!

Girl Scouts recognizes Black History Month

Girl Scouts all over the nation are out selling cookies or soon will be.. You'll see them in their vests or sashes, in groups or with a parent, pulling wagons or carrying bags full of Thin Mints, Lemonades, S'mores, PB Patties, and Caramel deLites or standing out in the cold at booths.

What you won't see are the hours their leaders spent with them coaching on money skills, sales pitches, goal setting, and professionalism.

What you won't see is a big number 250 or 700 or 1,050 written down in a little girl's handwriting and taped up by her bed, her mind set on selling that number of boxes.

What you won't see is the pounding heart of a little girl who gets nervous talking to strangers.

What you won't see is her parent reviewing a summer camp brochure and scribbling down how much money she'll need to save each month plus how many boxes of cookies her daughter will need to sell in order to get there.

So please smile back.
Please speak kindly.
Please buy a box or few, or donate boxes.
Please be patient while she counts money. Please let her do the math.
Please ask her about her cookie goal.
Please ask her about her badges.
Please ask her about her awards.
Please ask her about her adventures.

Please let her know she is valued.

Girl Scout Troop 41353!

Today, the "Hidden Figures Congressional Gold Medal Act," was signed into law, awarding Congressional gold medals to Girl Scout Alums Katherine Johnson and Mary Jackson (posthumous) alongside Dr. Christine Darden and Dorothy Vaughan( posthumous), in recognition of all of the women who contributed to the success of NASA during the Space Race. Brava! 👏👏👏👏

Earlier this month, Girl Scout Troop 41353 Seniors earned their Paddling Badge while kayaking on Lake Mackintosh! Many thanks to Melissa Hoose! These girls did AWESOME!
