We'd like to thank our friends at Northeastern University for featuring Neuro-Fit in their recent Global News article 🗞️

New research from Northeastern University highlights something we see daily at SLI: regular physical activity can play a powerful role in traumatic brain injury recovery.

Researchers found that advocating for TBI survivors to stay mobile through promoting accountability and providing incentives has helped individuals with TBI stay active, leading to meaningful improvements in walking frequency and duration. It's another reminder that movement matters, not just for physical health, but for long-term independence, wellness, and quality of life.

We're bringing bright colors, warm smiles, and beautiful creativity to your feed this Neuro-Wellness Wednesday! 🎨✨

Last week, residents at Douglas House took part in a fun and expressive watercolor workshop, creating “Circles in a Circle” paintings inspired by Wassily Kandinsky, a pioneer of abstract art known for his bold use of color and shape.

The workshop provided an engaging and adaptive space for residents to explore creativity, learn new watercolor techniques, and strengthen fine motor skills in a supportive small-group setting. Thank you Corry from Lexington Arts and Crafts Society for leading the class!

We’re proud to recognize Chasidy Parker and Danaille Donahue, two Salem State University students who recently completed their spring semester internship with SLI’s Neuro-Fit program!

Earlier this week, both were represented at Salem State University’s 10-Year Anniversary celebration of the Healthcare Studies program, with Danaille presenting her Neuro-Fit poster alongside SSU President John Keenen.

Chasidy shares that her first impression of SLI's Neuro-Fit Program was that "it seemed like a dream come true." When she first saw the program, she was "in awe of how the program is run and how it helps those that have ABI and TBI build confidence and get to be themselves while participating at Neuro-Fit."

Since 2018, Neuro-Fit has served as a leading internship opportunity for SSU students, providing hands-on experience that makes a real impact.

Congratulations, Danaille and Chasidy, and thank you to Salem State University for a semester defined by hard work, compassion, and dedication to our mission.
