Here are just a few examples of the women and children who have been helped at the House of Bread and Peace throughout the years 💜 For many years, the House of Bread & Peace annual raffle was a tradition supported through mailed tickets and community generosity. This year, we are excited to bring the raffle back in a new and more accessible online raffle format - allowing even more community members to support women and children experiencing homelessness in our region.

Most of the House’s operations, amenities, and supportive services are made possible through private donations and community support. Contributions from efforts like this raffle help provide essentials such as meals, hygiene items, linens, utilities, transportation assistance, children’s needs, case management support, and a safe place for women and children to rest while working toward long-term stability and housing.

We are honored to spend time today with the Eyewitness News WEHT WTVW team as part of their 30th Annual Founder’s Day of Caring! Together, we are working at Lucas Place II - Indiana's first permanent supportive housing for Veterans experiencing homelessness.

Your time, energy, and commitment to service made a meaningful impact on the Veterans who call Lucas Place II home. From helping clean out apartments to showing our residents that their community cares, your support goes far beyond a single day of volunteering.

Partnerships like this remind us that it takes all of us working together to build stronger communities and ensure those who have served our nation have the support they deserve. A special thank you to Elite Roll Off Services for your support as well!

From an ECHO team member:

“I want to share a quick story about one of the things that makes working at ECHO so fulfilling. We were finally able to get a longtime referral off the streets and into a place of his own 💜

The story starts all the way back in December of 2025, when he was first referred to us by Aurora. When we first tried to meet with him about getting him into housing was too scared to meet. He had been living on the streets for a long time. We would try to meet with him to get things set up, and he would not show up for the application meetings. Unfortunately, we had to close his referral in January due to no contact.

Thankfully, in April 2026, he was referred to us again. This time, with strong collaboration with Aurora, we were able to set up meeting times. With solid collaboration, ECHO and Aurora were able to make him feel comfortable and ease his fears about transitioning from the streets into permanent supportive housing. A few weeks ago, we were able to officially hand over the keys to his new home!”

This was truly a collaborative team effort by ECHO and Aurora Evansville to help identify his needs and ways to help make him feel safe and comfortable 🏠

A huge thank you to StormGuard Roofing and Construction and Veterans Overwatch for their incredible generosity and commitment to those who have served our country. 🤍🇺🇸

Thanks to their support, the James Bethel Gresham Memorial Home (aka Gresham House) has received a much-needed roof replacement, ensuring this important community resource can continue serving Veterans across Southwest Indiana for years to come.

Since 2018, the Gresham House has been a place of hope and opportunity, providing employment assistance, housing navigation, supportive services, and connections to critical community resources for hundreds of Veterans experiencing homelessness or housing instability. It also serves as an emergency shelter resource for Veterans who have nowhere else to turn.

Projects like this remind us that caring for our Veterans extends beyond words - it requires action, partnership, and a shared commitment to ensuring they have the support and stability they deserve.

We are incredibly grateful to StormGuard and Veterans Overwatch for investing not just in a building, but in the lives of the Veterans who walk through its doors every day.

Together, we are strengthening a place where Veterans can find hope, stability, and a path forward.
