A new year and an exciting, new facet of education at AQB!

We are proud to announce the Al-Quds Bard Academy, an English-immersion and college preparatory program for Palestinian youth. With a piloted program in Spring 2021, the Academy will host its grand launch in Fall 2021 with a full academic year of innovative curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

Scholarship support provides access to this unique program, and potential enrollment at AQB after its completion, to talented students for whom limited English skills and limited financial means are barriers to matriculation at AQB.

AQB was pleased to participate in the final GET ENGAGED Ceremony this weekend!

Al-Quds Bard College is pleased for participating in the final GET ENGAGED Ceremony, where students and staff from the diverse Bard partner campuses got together to celebrate Bard Network Students Civic Engagement accomplishments and resilience, especially during these extraordinary times.

The CCE team were all there, including Dr. Jonathan Backer, Dr. Cammie Jones, Dr. Erin Cannan, and Dr. Paul Marinthal and they all acknowledge the exceptionally difficult time it has been for students and others to maintain a steady and productive line of work and addressed AQB Students among other Bard Campuses on their passion and creativity.

AQB students, Baha' Ebdeir participated on behalf of the college and Shadin Nassar, our Global Fellow brought her A-Game as she opened the conference with a musical piece depicting the necessity of courage and persistence in times of challenge and hardship. It was very moving.

The CCE presented students with Virtual Certificates. Ultimately, this semester was an unusual change of pace, to say the least, but AQB is glad we were presented with this level of difficulty to test our prowess and ability to adapt and react quickly, and the SLI students showed a lot of will to act and continue giving back to their community.

"After joining to Al-Quds Bard College, I got excellent experience in using virtual classes; as a result, now I could perform complete e-lessons, in synchronous and asynchronous forms," says MAT graduate, Wissam Al-Irjan, "I prepare good content for each class, and I receive a perfect result for my students and me. طالب الدراسات العليا تخصص فنون تدريس اللغة الانجليزية، المتميز، في كلية القدس بارد، وسام العرجان، شاركنا بعض المقتطفات من يوم عمله كمعلم لصفوف الاعدادي في مدرسة ذكور جعفر في السموع، جنوب الخليل. حيث يستخدم نظام الدراسة عن بعد لنقل العلم للطلبة. ويقول الأستاذ وسام: "لم أكن اكترث كثيراً لاستخدام الدراسة الإلكترونية في حصصي اليومية العادية، ولكن في خضم جائحة كورونا، كلنا كمعلمين، احتجنا لطريقة للتواصل مع طلابنا. ومن خلال تجربتي القصيرة في كلية القدس بارد واعتمادها الكبير على التكنولوجيا في التعليم وتوظيف الصفوف الافتراضية، تعلمت الكثير من الأساليب والطرق التفاعلية التي استطعت ان انقلها الان لطلابي بمحتوى ممتاز ونتائج تفوق المتوقع. لذلك انا ممتن وشاكر لانضمامي لهذه الكلية الجميلة في جامعة القدس.

نفتخر بمجتمع كلية القدس بارد الذي لا يتوقف عن التقديم والعطاء بالرغم من الظروف الراهنة.

Al-Quds Bard College-Master in Arts of Teaching's (MAT) student, وسام النموره Wissam Al-Irjan, shared with us some glimpses of his work as an English Language Teacher at Jaa'far Elementary Public School, in As-Samu town south of Hebron. Schools there are trying to cope with the new situation imposed as a response to COVID-19 pandemic. Wissam reflects, "[i]t is about the current situation, as we all know before this virus and this emergency, we didn't have to use E-LEARNING in our classes, but during this situation, we all needed a way to connect with our students. After joining to Al-Quds Bard College, I got excellent experience in using virtual classes; as a result, now I could perform complete e-lessons, in synchronous and asynchronous forms. I prepare good content for each class, and I receive a perfect result for my students and me. Therefore, I am glad and thankful for joining this beautiful college, Al-Quds Bard."

AQB Debate team is going strong, attending virtual sessions with fellow debaters in the Bard Network. Very thankful to live in an age where technology allows us to maintain connections like this!

تألق طلاب كلية القدس بارد يوم أمس، 2 نيسان 2020، في جلسة مناظرة عقدت من خلال منصة التواصل الالكترونية Zoom وجمعت شبكة كليات بارد حول العالم.

AQB is still maintaining higher credits in debate sessions:

Yesterday, April 2nd. 2020, Al-Quds Bard College debate team participated in an online session that assembled Bard Network Debaters. One of the motions they debated was “whether Online Learning is the future form of Education.” Ramez Hayek, Current Debate Club leader, represented his teammates and gave an excellent performance. Hakam Abu Laban, AQB Student-Led Initiatives Coordinator, judged the round, and Ruth Zisma from Bard College, chaired it.
