When cardiac arrest strikes, every minute matters. Each minute without help lowers survival odds by about 10%, and on Whidbey, distance can slow emergency response.

WhidbeyHealth EMS is placing AEDs in the community, focusing on areas with longer response times and places where people gather. Every partner site gets yearly training. In 2026, the WhidbeyHealth Foundation provided $14,141 to fund 10 community AEDs plus training equipment. The newest partners are the Coupeville and Oak Harbor Boys & Girls Clubs.

Your generosity. Real impact.

Because of you, better care is happening right here at home.

Two new infant warmers are already caring for newborns at Family Birthplace, funded by guests at An Evening Out. They give premature and ill babies a warm, protected space while keeping parents close enough to begin bonding.

A new bedside ultrasound, funded with $43,252 from the Foundation, is helping our Emergency Department physicians get critical answers when every second counts.

These aren't just pieces of equipment. They're investments in our neighbors, friends, and families. Thank you for making care close to home possible.

Before Whidbey had a hospital, islanders got sick, got hurt, and had babies in a place where medical care could be an unreliable boat ride away. What they did about it took decades of organizing and fundraising, and resulted in Whidbey General opening its doors in Coupeville on March 10, 1970.

Few people know that story today. Now it’s a short film produced by Fish Boat Media.
