Yesterday was Mother’s Day in Argentina! ❤️

To mark the occasion, the mothers of children attending our preschool, Jardín Alba, were invited to a special celebration on Friday. The preschool's director and teachers had organized a beautiful morning filled with joy, surprises, and warmth.

It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, reflect, and give thanks. The important role mothers play in their families and in their children’s lives was at the heart of the celebration. The preschool team wanted to show their appreciation for all the love, care, and dedication these mothers give to their families.

FOOD IS HOPE

For many children, a meal is something we take for granted.

But for a child who goes to school hungry, a nutritious meal can mean the strength to concentrate, the energy to learn, and the opportunity to dream about a different future.

At Star of Hope, we see this every day.

In Kenya, children at our schools receive breakfast and lunch during the school day. For some, these may be the most important meals they eat. In Haiti, nutritious school meals help protect children from the effects of widespread malnutrition.

Because food does more than fill an empty stomach. It gives children a chance.

This World Food Day, we stand with children and families around the world who face hunger—and with everyone who helps turn food into hope, one meal at a time.

A meal today can be the first step toward a brighter tomorrow.

In 1970, Erik Gunnar Eriksson encountered a severely malnourished baby boy in a Brazilian slum. He couldn't simply walk away. That moment became the beginning of Star of Hope and a mission to bring hope and opportunity to children growing up in poverty.

What started with one child grew into a commitment to helping children and families through education, food, healthcare, and long-term support.

Because sometimes, changing the world starts with changing the world for just one person.

And that is still what drives us today: every child deserves a chance to grow, learn, and build a brighter future.

Today, we honor Indigenous peoples around the world — their cultures, languages, history, and the right to shape their own futures.

At Star of Hope International, we have the privilege of working alongside the Toba/Qom people in northern Argentina, where our work has continued for decades.

In Nam Qom, our preschool is the only one in the area where children can learn both Spanish and their own Toba language. We also provide educational support, school materials, food assistance, and opportunities that help children and young people build a future with dignity and hope.

In Romania, we work alongside vulnerable Roma communities, supporting children through resource and education centers where they receive meals, homework support, and extra teaching. The goal is simple: to give children the opportunity to stay in school, grow in confidence and build a different future.

Different communities. Different circumstances. But the same conviction:

Every child deserves to be seen, valued and given the opportunity to reach their potential.

Today, we celebrate culture, dignity, education and hope — and we are grateful to everyone who helps make this long-term work possible.

There’s something special about seeing children arrive at school with smiles on their faces, ready to learn, laugh, and spend the day together.

In the Philippines, Star of Hope has been creating opportunities for children through education since 1981. Today, our schools in Taytay, Infanta, and Crame welcome children and young people with a safe place to learn, grow, and look toward the future.

And sometimes, hope looks exactly like this:

Today, on World Teachers’ Day, we want to celebrate the teachers and educators who meet children every day with knowledge, patience, encouragement, and care.

At Star of Hope International, education has always been at the heart of our work. We establish and support preschools, primary schools and vocational education, provide school materials and study support, and invest in the training and development of teachers and educators.

Because a teacher does more than teach a lesson.

A teacher can help a child discover their abilities, believe in themselves, and see possibilities beyond the circumstances they were born into.

We have seen this impact across our projects. In Ghana, for example, children who once received support through Star of Hope have gone on to become teachers themselves — returning to their communities to help educate a new generation.

Today, we say thank you to every teacher who shows up, believes in a child, and helps plant the seeds for a brighter future.

The school year in Latvia is well underway!

This year, nearly 500 students are attending the special schools that Star of Hope partners with. Thanks to your support, many children have already enjoyed exciting outings, while the schools have received special toys and new sports equipment.

Star of Hope has been working in Latvia since 1991. Since then, tens of thousands of children and young people with disabilities, as well as their families, have received the support they need.

A big and heartfelt thank you to everyone who supports our work in Latvia.

A new school year has begun in Haiti, bringing new opportunities to learn, grow, and dream — even in the midst of enormous challenges.

The country continues to face insecurity, displacement, and a severe food crisis. For many families, simply providing food and sending their children to school is a daily struggle.

At Star of Hope-supported schools, children receive the support they need to start the school year, including school fees, uniforms, books, and food assistance. ❤️

Attendance may be slow at the beginning, but little by little, more children are returning to the classrooms. And every child who walks through those doors represents hope for a brighter future.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who makes it possible for these children to keep learning, even in difficult times.
