💔 Thursday Update on Phia 💔
We finally have some good news to share.
Phia is out of surgery, and the veterinary team was able to remove the obstruction from her intestines. They found a large amount of debris from the toy she had swallowed, and the vet told us that there was no way she would have ever been able to pass it on her own. Without surgery, the outcome could have been devastating.
There is still a very small amount of material in her colon, but the vet is confident it will pass naturally. They even took pics for us- see below - it’s a powerful reminder of how dangerous it can be when our dogs swallow toys or pieces of them.
Right now, Phia will be staying overnight at the emergency hospital again for close observation. She’ll be receiving IV fluids, pain medication, and plenty of rest while her body begins the slow process of healing.

As relieved as we are that the surgery was successful, this is only the beginning of her recovery.
Abdominal surgery is hard on a dog’s body, and the days and weeks ahead will require patience, careful monitoring, lots of love, and continued veterinary care.

This has been one scary experience. Something that started as a toy turned into a life-threatening emergency in the blink of an eye.
If there’s one thing we hope others take away from Phia’s story, it’s this: if you suspect your dog has swallowed part of a toy or anything they shouldn’t have, don’t wait. Acting quickly can truly save their life.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed, donated, shared our fundraiser, and kept Phia in your thoughts. Your kindness has helped us get her the care she desperately needed, and we are so grateful. Could a veterinary bill stand between you and the pet you love? Sadly, for many families, that’s a reality.

Not because they don’t love their animals. Not because they’re irresponsible. But because life happens. A medical emergency, a job loss, an unexpected surgery, or a pet who suddenly needs care that costs more than a family can afford.

That’s why we created the Osawatomie Community Care Fund (the OCC).

Through the OCC, Osawatomie residents can apply for veterinary care through a monthly drawing, with services provided at no cost to the family through our Veterinary Rescue Collaboration. This isn’t just vaccines. This is diagnostics, dentals, spay and neuter, mass removals, surgeries, and other medical care designed to keep pets healthy and families together.

Our goal is simple: help pets stay in the homes where they are already loved, stop accidental liters,  reduce suffering before it starts, and support our neighbors when they need it most.

The Moment is just three days away! And it could change everything. For so many.

We know we've been giving you lots of reminders, but that's because we truly believe what is possible through the Osawatomie Community Care Fund is something special.

On Sunday, between 2:00 and 5:00 PM, we'll be live sharing behind-the-scenes moments, stories, updates, and plenty of fun. Most importantly, we'll be sharing a vision that has us more excited than we can put into words.

Over the last year, we've done so much good for the animals in our care. We've provided medical treatment, found homes, created new programs, and continued to believe that every soul is worth it.

But we feel called to do more.

What if a family didn't have to choose between paying a bill and helping their beloved pet?
What if veterinary care wasn't the reason a pet lost their home?
What if we could step in before a crisis becomes a surrender?

And what if the only thing we asked in return was that families pay it forward by showing kindness to someone else?

That's the dream behind the Osawatomie Community Care Fund.

A dream that keeps pets with their families. A dream that prevents animals from entering shelters. A dream that allows us to touch even more lives with kindness, dignity, respect, and love.

This Sunday, one donation made during our live event will unlock an incredible $50,000 gift for the OCC Fund.
