Welcome to DESHEA.... This scholarship fund is for the young men and women at Hillside High School (and those organizations and clubs where they become members) who would like to participate in extracurricular activities but have been stagnated financially. We are incorporated as a nonprofit organization that is currently funded by donations, but are in the process of obtaining our 501(c)3 to qualify for grants to better serve these young men and women. We aim to level the playing field for these kids, making sure they will not be left out or made to feel indifferent. Students involved in extracurricular activities gain social and leadership skills and gain invaluable lessons in perseverance that will be needed as they leave the halls of their high schools and face the world in which we live in today. Check the link below on a study of students who are financially incapable to participate compared to those who are fortunate to do so. Currently DESHEA has supported Lambda Zeta Chi, The Hornet Harmony Glee Club and are excited to announce the roll out of its first two scholarships to Marching Band students today.
