Alzheimer’s doesn’t follow rules. It knows no boundaries, shows little regard, and quietly disrupts the lives of individuals and the families who care for them. For many, it’s a journey filled with uncertainty and isolation.

This June, we’re taking a moment to recognize those affected—and to remind them they are not alone.

What a man, what a man, what a mighty good Man! 👏

Meet “Pat”—our new SimMan® simulation manikin. Recently, the UPMC North Central Pa. Clinical Professional Development team completed training to bring this hands-on learning tool to life—enhancing their skills and building their confidence.

“Pat” is named in honor of Pat McGee, a retired UPMC team member who helped bring this resource to our region. In addition to her vision, the SimMan was made possible through the generosity of the community, with funding from our 2025 Golf Invitational Tournament ⛳

Because of your support, our staff has access to more advanced, real-world training—helping ensure patients continue to receive safe, high-quality care when it matters most.

Welcome to the board, Natasha Alligood-Percoco, M.D. 👋

Specializing in OB/GYN and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, Dr. Alligood-Percoco serves patients across UPMC facilities in Williamsport, Cole, and Wellsboro. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and completed her medical degree and residency at Penn State College of Medicine.

But perhaps what stands out most is the way she connects with her patients. As one shared, “Her vibe, personality, and knowledge were such a breath of fresh air—finally talking with someone who understood and truly listened.”

A thoughtful, compassionate provider and strong advocate for women’s health, Dr. Alligood-Percoco brings both expertise and heart to our region. We’re so glad to have her at the table.

Some people bring flowers.
Dolly brings rocks. 💙

For 31 years, Dolly Eiswerth has volunteered at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Williamsport. Since retiring, she’s added a personal touch—painting rocks for patients, each one marked with a heart “from her.” Beautiful in appearance, and even more meaningful in what they represent.

It’s a small gesture that carries a whole lot of love.

Teamwork 👏 makes 👏 the 👏 dream 👏 work

A few months ago, we shared that our UPMC Williamsport FM Residency program was collecting backpacks for local pediatric patients. After seeing the post, the Anesthesiology team at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh stepped up in a big way.

Their team came together to donate 25 fully stocked backpacks—helping kids feel prepared and supported both in and outside the classroom.

Grateful to this incredible team for turning a simple ask into something real.

Dearest gentle reader,

What a splendid evening it was amongst the ton! Last Friday, we gathered to celebrate our loyal donors and to honor the remarkable careers of Dr. Barbara Heere and Dr. Gregory Frailey at our Lifetime Achievement Awards. With gracious weather and elegant surroundings, the night was one most worthy of note.

It was this author’s first time experiencing the event, and the care woven into every detail did not go unnoticed. Whilst I have long known the depth of commitment SHF holds for the community, seeing the strength of its relationships and partnerships on display was, indeed, something quite special.

A most sincere thank you to our event sponsors—UPMC and UPMC Health Plan—as well as our entertainment sponsor, C&N. We are equally grateful to DiSalvo's, whose exceptional touch ensured the affair unfolded seamlessly. And to you, dear readers—your generosity and support are, as ever, the very heart of it all.

It’s finally here! After months of planning, we’re excited to celebrate our 2026 Lifetime Achievement Awards—an evening honoring our incredible donors and the individuals who make a lasting difference in the community.

Tonight, we’re privileged to recognize Dr. Gregory Frailey and Dr. Barbara Heere, two UPMC North Central Pa. physicians who have dedicated their careers to caring for others.
