Do you have the right to clean and healthy air, water, and soil and a safe climate? Not in our state constitution -- but we can change that! Find out how at these public town halls, coming up this week!

Constitutional protections are what keeps power in check. This is why we need more of them and for them to be enforced. Please join us on our Connecticut Tour next week as we make the case for a Connecticut State Green Amendment to expand our Constitutional Rights to cover our basic needs of clean air and clean water.

C3M fights for the CT Environmental Rights Amendment, which would include our individual right to a safe climate. See how Green Amendments like the CT ERA have been used in other states to push forward on climate policy.

Our changing planet is causing insurance rates to rise and insurance companies to pull out of entire regions. Regulations are not changing fast enough to deal with rising sea levels and rising water consumption, natural disasters, and heat waves. Our lives are being impacted right before our eyes and the government is not doing anything to fix it.

Can an umbrella like the help spur government to make the right decision? Come join us for a Climate XChange conversation between Sara Zimmerman, Founder and Executive Director of the Climate Equity Policy Center, Maya K. van Rossum, Founder and Leader of Green Amendments For The Generations, and Mat dos Santos, Co-Executive Director and General Counsel at Our Children's Trust, on August 27th at 1pm ET, as we explore how a Constitutional Green Amendment can shape climate policy.

C3M is proud to be a leading organization in support of the CT Environmental Rights Amendment Alliance. In the coming election, ask the candidates for the CT General Assembly if they support the fundamental human right to a clean and healthy environment and a safe and stable climate. Every seat is up for election this November. (And for the seats with primaries, early voting in the primaries starts today and continues to Aug. 13.)

Regardless of what happens on the federal level, we can stand up for our rights by approving the CT Environmental Rights Amendment.

Talk to the legislative candidates in your district -- are they supporting the CT Environmental Rights Amendment? Will they support it in committee? Will they advocate to bring it to the floor? Will they vote for it?

Every state legislative seat is up for election in November. This is the time to get your issues in front of them -- while they need your vote.

The CT Environmental Rights Amendment, a major program of C3M, is coming up for a public hearing this Wednesday! Here is everything you need to know in order to testify in writing, on Zoom, or in person.

Connecticut Green Amendment – the CTERA — is next up for a hearing!

The Connecticut Committee on Government Administration and Elections will be holding a public hearing Wednesday, March 13th to consider S.J. No. 193 which proposes to amend the Connecticut state constitution to include protections for our environmental rights. This is a massive opportunity to ensure that communities in Connecticut have the legal tools necessary to fight back against polluters, stop their communities from becoming sacrifice zones, hold government accountable, and prevent pollution from harming their livelihoods. Please make it a point to attend and testify and urge our legislators to support a Green Amendment that preserves our environmental rights for present and future generations.

Wednesday, March 13, 11:00 am ET
Go here to find out how to testify, comment, or for other important links and information about the hearing.

Our Mission and Strategy

Mission

The Connecticut Climate Crisis Mobilization (C3M) will mobilize a coalition of organizations throughout Connecticut to accelerate urgently needed action toward a just transition to 100% clean renewable energy and net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, an end to environmental racism, and an economy based on human needs.

Strategy:

C3M will build the climate movement by making connections among groups such as faith communities, unions, and organizations dedicated to peace, immigrant rights, sustainable agriculture, and social justice as well as environmental organizations.
