Today is World Children’s Day – and Tech Matters is excited to announce that we’ve developed new state-of-the-art technology to support the important work of child helplines. Through a partnership with Kids Help Phone, Canada’s national youth mental health helpline, we have integrated new advancements for Aselo, our call center platform co-created with child helplines. These tech advancements will support counselors in Canada and at helplines around the globe, thanks to open source software! ’sDay2024

This partnership will revolutionize and modernize helpline services for children in crisis in Canada and around the world.

And, this week we launched our new local climate adaptation platform, Terraso, on the occasion of the Kenyan Landscape Coalition meeting at Lake Naivasha.

Terraso’s free resources provide communities/landscape leaders with the tech support to address the impacts of climate change at the local level – with data management tools, interactive maps, visualization tools, story-telling, and other features to develop strategies, inform consumers and local community members, and request funding for community-led climate action. We already have users in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Terraso is the tech component of 1000 Landscapes For 1 Billion People – a global collaboration convened by EcoAgriculture Partners, and co-led with Rainforest Alliance, Commonland, Conservation International, the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP, and Tech Matters.

Terraso was developed with support from the Cisco Foundation, EcoAg (with funding from the Laudes Foundation) Hitz Foundation, Omidyar Network, the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, Rainforest Alliance (with funding from the IKEA Foundation), and Schmidt Futures. Thanks for the support to get to this moment!

Happy to announce that Tech Matters is now an independent 501c3 charity in the U.S., after being initially fiscally sponsored by my former nonprofit, Benetech. We celebrated this at the recent The Skoll World Forum in Oxford. Thanks to Skoll and all of our cool donors, who have pitched in more than $10M to get us to this milestone!

Tech Matters, a tech-for-good organization focused on bringing the power of tech to social change leaders, is now a new independent nonprofit
