There was a time when this building on Braddock Street was the place First Church called home. Generations gathered here to worship and grow together, our history helped shape the church we know today.

Now, following our groundbreaking at Apple Pie Ridge, it's our turn to carry that story forward together.

This Sunday, October 4, First Church joins Christians around the world in celebrating World Communion Sunday, remembering that no matter our background, language or culture, we are one in Christ.

As one of The United Methodist Church’s Special Sundays, it’s also an opportunity to help equip the next generation of church leaders through scholarships, training and leadership development around the world.

This month, we give thanks for Pastor Sean and the many ways he walks alongside our First Church family by celebrating our joys, sharing in our sorrows, encouraging us in faith and helping us grow closer to Christ.

Throughout October, we invite you to help us show Pastor Sean some extra love! Write a note of encouragement and leave it in the gift mailbox in the sanctuary, share a thoughtful gift, lend a helping hand, or simply let him know you’re praying for him and his family.

First United Methodist Church hopes to move into its new facility on Easter morning in 2028 at 362 Apple Pie Ridge Road in Frederick County. Pastor Sean Devolites visited the rural property last week and explained why he and his congregation took so long to announce the construction of the new church that will include a sanctuary, a kitchen, classrooms and office space. ⬇
