Our recent Sexual and Reproductive Health workshops have been deeply impactful, and a visit to the La Reforma health center brought an inspiring surprise. We reconnected with three community health promoters who graduated in 2014–2015 and remain actively engaged in improving health outcomes in their communities.

Ana María shares her journey. “After I trained at Etta as a promoter, I discovered a true passion for health. I began selling medicines and giving injections, and with that income, I was able to study nursing and statistics. Today, I work at the health center as a statistical administrator, and I am incredibly grateful to Etta for transforming my life.”

Stories like hers reflect the lasting impact of this work. Next month, we will welcome a new cohort of 40 health promoters who will train over two years and serve 18 additional communities. We are proud of the 192 promoters trained so far, whose dedication continues to inspire.

On March 17, the Katharine J. Densford Center for International Nursing Leadership at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing will host a special parallel event during the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women Forum.

This powerful panel will explore gender-based violence and femicide in Bolivia through a public health, human rights, and nursing leadership lens. Speakers from the University of Minnesota and Etta Projects will discuss how health systems, laws, and social inequalities shape women’s safety—and the critical role nurses play in supporting survivors and driving change.
