Death 2 Life Ministries is a Recovery House for men designed to equip it's residents to successfully transition from institutional living to sober private living. The name and mission of D2L Ministries is derived from Ezekiel 37:3, “And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered O Lord GOD, thou knowest.”
The program utilized by D2L Ministries is designed to address seven v
ital areas of human life required to successfully reenter private life from institutional life. All instruction offered in the D2L Ministries is based on the belief that the Bible is the Word of God and is therefore totally reliable and accurate and is the only effective guide for a successful life. Paul wrote, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (II Timothy 3:16-17, NIV). SPIRITUAL- If they have not yet done so, residents will be urged to begin a personal relationship with God through faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Residents will be required to grow in their relationship with God by
regularly engaging in the spiritual disciplines of Bible study, prayer, church attendance, and service to others. The goal of this section of the program is to equip residents with the knowledge they need to develop an effective support system through a healthy sense of connectedness to their family, church, and community. MENTAL- Residents will be given Biblical instruction on how to experience good mental health by the renewing of their minds through meditation on Scripture. Paul wrote, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2a, NIV). PHYSICAL- Residents will be challenged to gain and maintain good physical health through a balance of exercise, nutrition, and sleep. Paul wrote, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit…Therefore honor God with your bodies” (I Corinthians 6:19a…20b, NIV). RELATIONAL- Residents will be given instruction on how to develop and maintain healthy relationships among family, friends, and co-workers. Our behavior affects those relationships either positively or negatively. Paul wrote, “If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it” (I Corinthians 12:26, NKJV). OCCUPATIONAL-God expects every able-bodied man to work to provide for himself and his family. Paul wrote, “If anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever” (I Timothy 5:8, NKJV). Therefore,
upon entrance into D2L Ministries residents will be given 30 days to secure employment with a possible 30 day extension at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
