😞 Transparency Update 😞

Sloppy Joe crossed rainbow 🌈 bridge today. He could not pull out of the anemia and also was weakened by coccidia.

Friends - please - I beg 😫you! Please get cats fixed. These kittens are not being taken care of because “they are just strays” and they suffer. Sometimes we get them in time, sometimes we lose a lot of sleep and spend energy and resources, to be the one to hold their paw at the end 🐾 I really got attached to SJ and my heart broke a little more today.

There is ‼️always ‼️a way to help - educate, share educational post, help a neighbor, help a stray, sponsor a spay, foster a kitten or two, donate to help us or any nonprofit help them!

I won’t share his final pics because it isn’t fair to him.
But what I will share is our information hoping it goes far and wide but at least to one person who is able to help save at least one life.

Spaying /neutering = saves lives and ends suffering

Now I will quietly go cry in the shower and get some sleep because tomorrow is CLINIC day and we will be saving lives!

😳7 years ago Alison and I transported furpuppers to a new home and safe from our overcrowded shelter at the time. 7 years ago we knew there was a problem. There were too many! All the time! Mostly unwanted.

Mostly being abandoned or neglected or abused. We knew we had to do more. We knew we wanted better for our community. We knew we wanted to help them! We realized that the answer isn’t just adoption —- it is SPAY and NEUTER.

7 years sounds like a long time but I remember this trip like yesterday. Yes we did break down in the rain. 🌧️Yes we laughed 😅our way through it. Yes we may have shed some tears as we said goodbye to them. But we drove away knowing — we have to do more.

It’s been a wild, bumpy, crazy road but look how far we have come. . . . Fix Grayson County KY ❤️

I sometimes wonder if this is real or still just a dream!

🐈🐈🐈 Tomcat Tuesday 🐈🐈🐈

We have had an anonymous donor to donate lowered fees for up to 10 male cats for tomorrow, June 16!

What is this? Your MALE cat can be neutered and receive a rabies vaccination (if old enough) for only $10 plus tax!! 🤩

Specifics:
Must be a new appointment.
Must weigh at least 2 pounds.
Must be overall healthy or no known medical issues.
Feline vaccination offered for $5 more.
Drop off between 7:30-9:30 tomorrow morning and pick up between 3-5 pm tomorrow afternoon.
Limit two offers per household.

DO NOT WAIT! These toms will spray if not fixed. These toms will be knocking up the females and be responsible for many UNWANTED litters!!

Pyometra is an infection in the uterus that is fatal if not treated. Your cat may look pregnant, but she could also have this infection — this is why we encourage spaying anyway when you mention a possible pregnancy.

So far in 2026 Harmony has done 98 pyometra surgeries.

In 2026 Harmony has been open 146 days.

That's 1 pyometra every 1.5 days!

Spay and neuter! We can't say it enough!

❤️Sloppy Joe Update ❤️

He has been stable enough now to receive two full body baths! He is eating well and likes the Churu.
His little hair has fluffed out with the baths but he does have a few bald areas that are likely due to flea dermatitis and scratching.

What you can’t see is that he is still anemic but is receiving some nutrical supplements to help with this and lots of resting and loves.

He has purred for the first time too!
We think he has the fight to keep going!
We will update again next week but keep sending him prayers and good wishes!

✳️✳️✳️Transparency Post ✳️✳️✳️.

Tonight, a precious kitten's plea for help reached our hearts, and we were blessed to be a part of his journey towards hope and healing. In the spirit of transparency, we'd like to share the circumstances that brought us to this little one's side. Initially, the Leitchfield Animal Shelter was contacted, but due to their policy of prioritizing after-hours care, they redirected us to seek alternative assistance.

FIX proudly respects and acknowledges this policy, and thanks to our strong partnerships and open lines of communication with the shelter, we were able to collaborate seamlessly and provide the necessary aid.

Meet SLOPPY JOE, weighing 1.27 pounds, who will receive gentle care tonight and a thorough assessment tomorrow. We're grateful for the outpouring of support and kind messages.

Special thanks to Erica Priest, the compassionate finder, Trent from Leitchfield Animal Shelter, and Jeremy and Bambi for their tireless efforts in this case. If you'd like to contribute to Sloppy Joe's care, please let us know, and we'll provide guidance. For now, his estimated bill stands at $27.50.

Meet Dr. Morgan Bernal, our lead surgeon!

You may hear us call her Dr. Bernal or Dr. Morgan💜

Dr. Bernal graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 and went on to serve as a veterinarian in the U.S. Army for 9 years. Her dedication to both animals and service continues today, as she travels more than two hours each way to help provide care at our clinic.

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Bernal stays busy traveling, spending time with her two children and her furry family of 11 dogs and 3 cats. Her passion for animals and her commitment to making veterinary care more accessible is unmatched. She strongly believes in providing affordable veterinary services and helping control pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs.

Dr. Bernal’s compassion, expertise, and willingness to go the extra mile—literally—make an incredible difference to our clinic, our clients, and the pets we serve. We are proud to have her as part of our team!

Update to add, she has successfully spayed and neutered 1,984 animals at Fix since May 2025!
