Thank you to Groundwork Ohio for bringing the 20th stop of the Groundwork Ohio Roadshow to Toledo and State Senate District 11!

This special community forum brought together Groundwork Ohio, HOPE Toledo, Mom's House of Toledo, and local and state leaders for meaningful conversations about the experiences and needs of young children and families in Lucas County.

The day began with a visit to our friends at Quality Time Learning Center. Thank you to Alethea Easterly, Anita, and Laquita for helping make that visit possible and for welcoming Groundwork Ohio to their center.

A special thank you to Christina Rodriguez, Executive Director of Mom’s House, and her incredible team for opening your doors for a visit and for hosting the Roadshow community forum in the beautiful community room at Laurie’s Place.

We are grateful for the warm welcome and for the space to bring our community together.
And to each of the panelists who shared their time, expertise, and passion — thank you. The depth of insight and, especially, the passion expressed throughout the conversations made this gathering truly impactful.

We are also proud to highlight our President & CEO, Rev. John C. Jones, a Groundwork Ohio Board Member, for moderating the conversation on early care and education, preschool, and kindergarten readiness.

A special thank you to State Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson for being such a gracious host in District 11 and for keeping us focused on what matters most: our children and their parents — both mothers and fathers.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this 20th stop so meaningful.

These conversations strengthen our community, build connections, and remind us what is possible when we come together to listen, learn, and drive meaningful change for children and families. And we know this won't be the last time we come together. ❤️

Thank you, Groundwork Ohio, for continuing to create spaces for these important conversations — and to everyone who helped make the Toledo Roadshow a powerful reflection of the strength and commitment of our community.

A truly inspiring and impactful event! Grateful to Groundwork Ohio and everyone who helped bring our community together for such an important conversation. ❤️

On October 6, our Groundwork Ohio Roadshow 2026 brought us to Lucas County, where we gathered at Laurie’s Place in Toledo for conversations focused on the experiences and needs of young children and families across the region.

Our first panel focused on prenatal and infant health, with State Sen. Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo), Julia Myers of Toledo Day Nursery, Emily Scheuer of the Health Council of Northwest Ohio, and Kendra “Kec” Siville of the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department. Thank you to Adrienne Bradley of ProMedica for moderating the conversation.

Our second panel turned to early care and education, preschool, and kindergarten, featuring Toledo City Council President Councilwoman Vanice S. Williams, owner of First Light Child Care Center; Julie Haas of Mom's House of Toledo; and Kevin Mullan Mullan Mullan of KPM Consulting. Thank you to Rev. John C. Jones President & CEO of HOPE Toledo and Groundwork Ohio Board Member for moderating the discussion.

Thank you to all of our speakers for sharing their perspectives and helping us better understand what families, providers, and communities are experiencing in Lucas County.

We're honored to partner with WGTE Public Media to bring Learn & Play Treasure Chests into our partner providers' Pre-K classrooms!

When organizations come together around a shared commitment to children, incredible things happen. By investing in high-quality, engaging early learning experiences, we're helping ensure more children enter kindergarten ready to learn, with the confidence, curiosity, and foundation skills they need to thrive.

We're grateful to WGTE and the generous supporters who made this initiative possible. Together, we're strengthening our community, empowering educators, and creating Strong Starts for even Stronger Futures.

A graduation celebration years in the making!

Quality Time Learning Center recently celebrated its Pre-K Class of 2026, surrounded by proud families, teachers, and supporters. Dressed in their caps and gowns, the graduates were recognized for their accomplishments and all they have learned this year.

One of the most memorable moments came when former Quality Time students, now members of the high school graduating Class of 2026, returned to share the stage with this year's graduates. It was a special full-circle moment and a reminder that bright futures begin with a strong start.

Congratulations to the graduates and their families!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the incredible teachers and staff, whose dedication, patience, and love paved the way for these milestones.
