diaTribe® The mission of the diaTribe Foundation is to support individuals with diabetes and prediabetes and to advocate for effective action.

The mission of the diaTribe Foundation is to help people with diabetes and prediabetes and to advocate for action. diaTribe is dedicated to bringing people with diabetes to the conversation on regulatory issues, connecting the field and the diabetes community, and changing the narrative around diabetes. diaTribe Learn: We’re committed to helping people with diabetes live happier, healthier, and mo

re hopeful lives through our diaTribe publication, Learn, which reaches over 6 million people annually. Our writing team has deep insights into the patient experience and closely covers the latest research, treatments, and initiatives in diabetes. Our tagline is “Making Sense of Diabetes.”

Time in Range: Everyone with diabetes deserves to have the tools, therapies, and technologies to live their best life. The diaTribe Foundation formed The Time in Range Coalition with a multi-stakeholder group of foundations, non-profit organizations, researchers, people with diabetes, clinicians, and industry. Our goal is to establish time in range as an essential part of diabetes care and to make time in range accessible to all people with diabetes and their care teams. This involves work in multiple areas, including regulatory, clinical, research, and patient education. Stigma: We aim to reduce the impact of diabetes on society and improve the lives of people with diabetes by fostering an understanding of the disease, eliminating misplaced blame, and ensuring access to care. We believe that addressing diabetes stigma is an essential missing element of effective diabetes care and mental wellness, and we aim to change that through the work of our program, dStigmatize. Our team is fiercely committed to improving the lives of people with diabetes. We are all personally touched by this disease, and some of us have it ourselves. Our work is a labor of love, so we invite you to join the diaTribe.

Despite diabetes-related nerve pain affecting millions of people, it is one of the most undertreated complications of diabetes.

A new piece of legislation, the Relief of Chronic Pain Act, aims to change that. It seeks to improve access to non-opioid treatment options for people living with chronic pain by reducing financial barriers and administrative obstacles that affect timely access. diaTribe is proud to be among the broad coalition of patient advocacy organizations supporting this bill.

You can take action by contacting your members of Congress to let them know you support the Relief of Chronic Pain Act:

Research suggests that over 3 in 4 caregivers report psychological distress, and 41% report moderate-to-severe caregiver burden.

At the Diabetes + Mental Health Conference earlier this month, experts talked about the ways diabetes impacts the whole family and what you can do about it.

Lacee Musgrove, a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in therapy for children and teens living with diabetes, stressed that caregiver burnout is common and nothing to be ashamed of. “The good news is that burnout is preventable and treatable. The better news is you don't have to be perfect. All parents need to do is try their best to be there for their child."

Have you been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the past 6 months, and between ages 18-55? If so, you may be eligible to participate in the POLARIS Study and help shape the future of type 1 diabetes care.

The POLARIS Study is investigating whether a cell therapy that targets the root cause of type 1 diabetes can help restore immune balance and preserve insulin production. This one-time treatment is made from the person’s own cells and designed to interrupt the autoimmune imbalance that drives disease progression.

Individuals newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (within the past 6 months) may be eligible to participate in the clinical trial and will be screened to determine whether they carry the specific genes required for the study.

If you’re interested, visit https://www.polarisstudy.com/?utm_source=diatribe to learn more and find a study site near you. The POLARIS Study is being conducted at several locations throughout the US, but travel assistance may be provided.

You’re not alone. Your journey could help rewrite the future of type 1 diabetes for you and for others!

When was the last time you had an open conversation about eye health or DME?

For many of us, the answer is probably not recently enough. These conversations can be challenging, uncomfortable, and sometimes even scary. That’s why we teamed up with Genentech to put All Eyes on DME. The campaign aims to spread awareness and educate people at-risk for or living with diabetes-related eye conditions like DME.
