Dear community members,

If you are detained by ICE, do not sign any documents.

We have received recent reports of coercion, including pressure to sign stipulated orders of removal or voluntary departure documents. You may be told that you do not have the right to a lawyer or that you have no rights in the United States. That is not true.

Do not sign anything. Continue to clearly and calmly ask to speak with an attorney.

If you sign these documents, you will likely be placed on a deportation flight within days. If you do not sign, you will most likely be transferred to a detention center, where you will have the opportunity to speak with a lawyer and appear before an immigration judge.

You have rights. Do not let anyone convince you otherwise.

I choose to remain silent.
I do not agree to sign any documents.
I want to speak with my attorney.

No firme nada.

No acepto firmar ningún documento.
Quiero hablar con mi abogado.

From American Immigration Lawyers Association:

Urge Congress to oppose the reported push for 44,500 immigration detention beds in the FY26 DHS Appropriations Bill. This funding request represents poor stewardship of taxpayer dollars that will primarily enrich private prison corporations and misses a critical opportunity for Congressional oversight.

This funding is unnecessary and duplicative. H.R.1 already allocated $45 billion for expanding immigration detention infrastructure, helping drive the ICE detention population to a record 68,990 individuals. Contrary to claims by the Trump Administration that it targets the “worst of the worst,” of those taken into ICE detention so far in FY26, 92% have no criminal convictions.

Massive growth is funding a dangerous, deadly detention system. Six people died in custody in December 2025 alone, during the deadliest year on record for immigration detention. More beds without accountability will only compound this crisis. Facilities are plagued by inadequate medical care, poor conditions, and abusive behavior by facility staff including sexual assault.

Congress should be conducting oversight, not enabling expansion. As the Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee Sen. Murray noted in her recent statement, this moment calls for accountability. It does not call for blank checks. Lawmakers must insist that DHS demonstrate responsible use of the substantial funds already provided before receiving more.

Opposing this appropriation is both substantively sound and strategically important. It establishes that expansion of a deadly, profit-driven system will not proceed without Congressional scrutiny. AILA urges you to oppose additional detention bed funding and to use the appropriations process to demand the oversight and accountability that this moment requires.

We urge Congress to:

Reject any increase in funding for reckless immigration enforcement, including increased funding for ICE detention beds.

Demand oversight and clear guardrails that protect transparency and hold the Administration accountable for their actions.

Hold ICE accountable in providing basic necessities such as safe drinkable water, medical care, and access to counsel.

From me: Defund ICE.

This week the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision that clears the way for racial profiling during immigration raids and sweeps. Now we could see the Trump administration rapidly expand the racially discriminatory ICE practices we have already seen terrorize families, workplaces, and communities aro...

Dear Friends, Partners, and Supporters,

With deep gratitude and firm resolve, I am honored to step into the role of Executive Director of Legal Immigration Services of Olympia (LISO). Alongside my fellow co-founders, Alejandra Hunt, Isaid Orozco Lugo, and Karen Lazcarro, we join with a broader community of advocates committed to ensuring that detained immigrants are not forced to navigate a complex legal system alone.

At the Northwest ICE Processing Center (NWIPC), many individuals appear before an immigration judge without the benefit of legal representation - sometimes for the first and only time. While dedicated organizations have long been working to meet this need, the scale and urgency of the moment demand that more of us step in. LISO exists to stand alongside these efforts, to contribute where we can, and to extend the reach of justice one client at a time.

Our vision is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: due process shouldn’t be a privilege for the few - it’s a right owed to all. LISO provides more than just legal defense. We seek to restore dignity, stability, and hope to families fractured by detention, ensuring that our clients feel seen, heard, and never alone in the fight.

This work is urgent. Each day without representation is another child separated from a parent, another asylum seeker denied a fair hearing, another life shaped by silence instead of advocacy.

We’re starting small, but intentionally. Our team brings trauma-informed, culturally humble legal advocacy to those we serve, guided by the values we hold dear. We may not reach everyone, but those we do reach will receive our full commitment.

We’re not alone in this. We are part of a growing network of legal professionals, community members, and partners who believe that immigration justice is a shared responsibility. Our work builds upon theirs, and together, we push forward.

We invite you to walk with us. Whether through funding, partnership, or shared advocacy, your support helps expand the circle of care and representation for those facing a daunting system.

With deep gratitude and unwavering purpose,

Steffani Powell

Please follow this link and consider signing. The Big Beautiful Bill will result in a terrorized society with 10,000 more ICE agents, 150,000- 200,000 new detention beds, & diversion of resources away from fighting real crime. Such focus on vulnerable populations is a shortsighted, truly idiotic, and inhumane approach to immigration. This does nothing to ensure public safety and national security. It creates an erosion of trust in law enforcement that will harm us all.

If you are a lawful permanent resident (LPR) and have any criminal history—regardless of how minor the offense or how long ago it occurred—it is critical that you consult with an immigration attorney before traveling outside the United States.
