Throwback to the 2004 Cotton Bowl!

Here’s a great one from the archives! This photo was taken during our 2004 Cotton Bowl trip to Dallas, Texas, and features our fearless leader, Kelly (Mixon) Dockham, taking charge as Drum Major!

More than 20 years later, we’re getting ready to make music together again! We can’t wait to stand side by side and share the warm-up arc with all of you again very soon.

So dust off those instruments, find those lyres, and start warming up those chops!

A little band history from the College Football Hall of Fame… and a challenge for the Ole Miss Band family!

While visiting the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, I spent some extra time exploring the marching band exhibit. There were incredible displays featuring bands from across the country: historic uniforms, iconic instruments, vintage music, and traditions that have become part of college football history.

As much as I enjoyed it, I couldn’t help but notice one thing missing…

There wasn’t any Ole Miss Band memorabilia.

That got me thinking…

If YOU could choose ONE piece of Ole Miss Band history to be displayed in the College Football Hall of Fame, what would it be?

A classic Pride of the South uniform ?
Bowl game memorabilia?
A drum major’s mace?
Historic arrangements or music?
A display honoring the traditions that can only be found at Ole Miss?

And here’s my challenge…

If anyone has connections with the College Football Hall of Fame or knows the right people, let’s make it happen! The Ole Miss Pride of the South Band has been an integral part of college football traditions for generations, and it deserves to be represented alongside the other legendary programs in the museum.

From the Archives: Fall 2002

This week, we’re turning back the clock to the Wind Ensemble of Fall 2002 under the direction of Mr. David Willson.

While many people immediately think of the Pride of the South when they hear “Ole Miss Band,” our alumni family is made up of musicians from every facet of the Ole Miss Band program. From Wind Ensemble and Concert Band to Basketball Band, Pep Band, and the Pride of the South itself, each ensemble has played an important role in shaping generations of Ole Miss musicians.
