University Heights is a charming pocket community of San Diego. Located near the central Uptown area, University Heights is a thriving community with wide sidewalks and active art, music, and theater life. We have excellent restaurants, coffee shops, a bakery, convenience stores, imported food markets, antique and book stores, a rug merchant, clothing stores, a flower shop, custom furniture makers

and upholsterers, woodworkers, and gallery framing. An extraordinary variety of personal artists, ranging from hair stylists to body workers, are as much a part of the neighborhood as the churches, grammar school, UH Athenaeum School of the Arts, Trolley Barn Park, and the library. The University Heights Community Association (UHCA) serves to represent the community with the city, community projects, and developers. Our rich and diverse neighborhood, combined with the classic Arts and Crafts and Mission Revival bungalows, are always of interest to developers. Both the city and private developers are actively trying to increase the density of the community while avoiding established master plans. The University Heights Design Review Council is currently focused on compelling developers to follow the exemplary design of the Uptown Community Plan instead of the controversial ‘ministerial’ review the city is allowing developers to use. We depend upon local support, both volunteer and financial, to insure that change does not impinge upon the character of our neighborhood and appreciate all the support we receive in this ongoing endeavor.

Our focus has never changed. Since 1984, it’s been University Heights. ❤️

The University Heights Community Association (UHCA) is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization that has proudly served our neighborhood since 1984. Our mission has remained the same for more than four decades:
Support our residents.
Champion our local businesses.
Organize community events.
Improve our neighborhood.
Bring people together.

Every post we create, every event we organize, every business we spotlight, and every volunteer hour we contribute is done with one goal in mind: making UH an even better place to live, work, and visit.
We enjoy spending our time highlighting the incredible people, businesses, artists, volunteers, and organizations that make this neighborhood special and we believe communities are strongest when people lift each other up.

See you at our upcoming UHCA Business Meeting on July 15, 11 AM at

It was so great seeing so many familiar and new faces at our June UH Business Meeting! Thank you to everyone who shared ideas, feedback, and enthusiasm for making UH an even stronger and more vibrant community.

We’re excited to continue the conversation at our next meeting.
We’ll be working to finalize many of the great ideas that were presented around events, business collaboration, promotions, and other community initiatives.

Whether you’re a UH business owner, employee, resident, or simply someone who loves UH, you’re welcome to join us. The more voices at the table, the better our community becomes.

Thanks to all the volunteers who were able to join for our monthly native plant event yesterday. We planted 20 new narrow leaf milkweed plants (Asclepias fascicularis) and cleared the way for a new native garden bed. Three years into the project and we are still going strong!

Today’s the day! UHCA in collaboration with will be taking neighbors and new friends through a Bus Powered Pub Crawl tonight 🚌 Thanks to all who registered! See you out there ✨

Check-in at our welcome table in front of Park & Rec, download the Pronto App and load $$, grab a drink, and learn about the routes that service

From there, your group leaders will assist you in catching Bus Route 11 to our next stops:
