Welcome to our page dedicated to bringing Tyson home to his family in Union, KY! Thank you for all of your support already. We feel the love and know there is still hope to find our boy! We are not giving up because we know he is out there somewhere!
Tyson is a 1 year-old husky/lab mix who we rescued last year. We also rescued his littermate Ozzy and the two are inseparable. His brother is very lonely without him. We also have 3 young children who are heartbroken over Tyson's disappearance.
Unfortunately we do not have any good leads yet. Here is what we know:
He and his brother got out of an unsecured gate in our backyard on 10/22 at approximately 7:30am. They were not wearing their collars. They were seen running all over our neighborhood together for quite a while. The last sighting of Tyson was someone saw them both on Rice Pike together around 10am (near the US 42 end of Rice). Someone who lives off of Rice spotted his brother alone around 10:15. They kept his brother in their yard until we arrived (a total of about 30-45 minutes). During that time there was no sight of Tyson nearby. This is surprising because they are usually always together.
We believe it is very likely that someone stole Tyson as they were driving on Rice Pike. Maybe they thought he did not have a family since he was not wearing a collar. But they should have taken him to the shelter or a vet. He is microchipped!
Or possibly Tyson got distracted and ran in a different direction from his brother. and is still out there somewhere. However, Tyson is very social and would most likely go to humans or other dogs. We have searched, but there is so much rural area it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. We feel like there has to have been more sightings and maybe people aren't reporting them.
There was a possible sighting of him by a school bus driver a couple of days after he went missing on the road by Ryle High School and Farm Haven (the road leading to Lassing Pointe golf course). However it could have been a case of mistaken identity.
There have been two other possible sightings in nearby areas, but both times the person was not sure it was him and we searched those neighborhoods thoroughly.
We have spoken with many farm owners and local businesses asking them to keep an eye out. We are on a first-name basis with the Boone County Shelter. We have been checking Craigslist and other dog sale sites, with no luck.
We have also received 3 mysterious/spam calls. One was a text saying "I have your dog" and requesting we send them a google verification code. Another was an out of town number (marked spam) calling, with a child's voice saying "We have your dog! The one from the signs!" and then they hung up. Another was a call from a private number with just a bunch of dogs barking. We are confused about the purpose of these (especially the child's voice) as they did not ask for money. Possibly a terrible prank?
At this point we just need everyone to spread the word!!! If someone has him, maybe they don't know that he has a family. If he is out there, there HAS to have been more sightings! We are offering a $1,000 reward leading to his safe return. If you see him, please do not chase him. This has caused many dogs to end up getting hit by a car. If you see him, call my number and put out some food for him to hopefully come to you.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this!
