Our last meeting in August was conducted by the students who were selected and recently traveled on the Union City Rotary Europe trip. These students shared their many experiences of the European countries as well as their newly formed friendships with their travel companions. Each one expressed how life-changing this trip was and continually expressed their gratitude for being selected.

Last Friday, the recipients of the Washington D.C. Rotary Trip took over the meeting and ran it in true fashion. They experienced an amazing trip and explored the Nation's Capital all provided by funds from Rotarian donations. These fine young people shared how this trip was a game changer in so many ways. They not only learned more about the history of this nation but also gained new lifelong friend connections with all schools in Obion County being represented: Obion County High School, Union City High School, and South Fulton High School.

Today at Rotary, we will here from those students who were chosen for the Europe trip. Look for those pictures in the near future.

Friday's noon Rotary meeting featured the head football coach for Obion County Central High School Clayton Morris. He was accompanied by his coaching staff as well as this year's senior athletes. Coach spoke about the culture of this year's team which is "family". He also spoke of the upcoming schedule and his expectations as a team. OC has a scrimmage tonight before kicking off the regular season next week! Pictured L/R: UC Rotary President Donnie Walton & Coach Morris.

Last Friday, the Union City High School football coaching staff and senior football players joined the UC Rotarians. Head Coach Wade Maddox gave an overview of the program, introduced his senior athletes and their positions/expectations, and gave oversight into this year's competition. The Union City Rotary Club would like to say Congratulations to Stacie Freeman for receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Stacie is a member of the McKenzie Rotary Club. A 21-year educator at Bethel University, she is in her 16th year of leading domestic and international travel. She is no stranger to the Union City Rotary Club as she is a huge participant in the high school travel programs to Europe and Washington D.C. Union City is just one of many cities in our area she helps students see the world. She lives by the motto: The World is our classroom. Pictured with Stacie is UC Rotarian Michael Dennison. Dennison states "Stacie is very deserving of the Paul Harris Fellow award. Her accomplishments along with her passion to achieve them are quite evident. On behalf of the UC Rotary Club, we wish her many more years of success as she continues to develop international programs at Bethel University."

Today, the Union City Rotary Club heard from the District Governor of Rotary District 6760, Jeff Brasher. He talked about his years of service since he started in Rotary and how service projects have affected him over the years. He challenged the club to tackle service projects that are impactful to our community and make a difference. It was great having one of Union City's own return to speak to the Union City Rotary Club today. Jon Robinson, who is the senior personnel executive for the Miami Dolphins, shared his past experiences through his early years in football to his current role in Miami. One thing Jon made clear today,...no one will rememeber your wins, losses, and Division titles, but those you encounter will remember how you treated them and made them feel!! Yesterday, our club recognized Stephen Vaden and Jason Kizer as Paul Harris Fellows for their service and commitment to Rotary. We welcomed family, friends, and impersonators (Greg & Donnie) to celebrate their many accomplishments! ✨

In addition, we recognized Tim Shanks for his outstanding year of service as President! Assistant District Governor, Donna Hilliard, joined us to conduct our incoming officer installation ceremony.

✈️🇺🇸 Homeward Bound! ❤️

As our European adventure comes to an end, our hearts are full of gratitude for the incredible experiences we’ve shared together. From England and France to Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, and Germany, every day brought new sights, rich history, beautiful landscapes, delicious food, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Our students represented their schools, families, and community with kindness, respect, and enthusiasm. Watching them grow in confidence, embrace new cultures, and make lifelong friendships has been one of the greatest joys of this journey.

A very special thank you to the Kirkland Family Foundation for your incredible generosity and unwavering support of this program. Because of your investment in these students, they were able to experience opportunities that will shape their lives for years to come.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Union City Rotary Club for your dedication to investing in the next generation. Your commitment to leadership, education, and service continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students and our community.

Thank you to all of the parents, families, friends, and everyone who followed along, prayed for our safety, and cheered us on throughout this journey. Your encouragement meant so much.

We’re heading home with full hearts, unforgettable memories, thousands of photos, and a deeper appreciation for the world around us. While it’s always exciting to return home, a part of our hearts will always remain with the places we’ve explored and the memories we’ve made together.
