"There are many persons ready to do what is right because in their hearts they know it is right. But they hesitate, waiting for the other fellow to make the first move — and he, in turn, waits for you."

Whew! Jam packed CTA STATE Council. From voting on actions for the good of our students, endorsing candidates for state and NEA positions, reading and researching policy, working in my assigned committee for language acquisition, to meeting in our District C morning meeting with Angela Normand and attending a NO KING’s MARCH, A lot of work is being done to advocate for our teachers, our students and the sanctity of public education! I am a proud State Council member who is willing to give up personal time to fight the fight and I DO believe that when we fight together not only does our profession win, but our kids get all the glory of that hard work we each put in! Don’t depend on a few of your Union members to get you and the kids what they need, it takes a collective effort. And we know nothing worth having is given for free and with ease. Will you stand by or will you rise?

Today we celebrated Joe Ku’ Angeles and his retirement. Joe has been a warrior for teachers and students and got in the trenches to lead with heart, compassion and care. You have taught me a lot and we are going to miss you, but you got the best part of your life to enjoy! Thank you for your leadership and you will always be a part of the New Haven Teacher’s Association OHANA!
