We would like to address the recent post regarding the motel and supplies.

The motel was purchased mid Devember 2024. We have since than worked with state and local agencies with every attempt to rehab and reopen the existing motel. That process has taken months which included meeting with contractors at a local and commercial level, TN State Fire Marshals Office, Architects, Structural Engineers, buildng code offices, law enforcement and the Unicoi County Courts and DA’s office.

During that time Buffalo Disaster and Relief has worked with many other organizations and individuals between ETN, WNC, KY, VA and SWVA. The motel was able to be used as a storage center, centrally located, for supplies to be distributed from as needed. This was not put out in the public eye due to safety concerns of individuals and donations. As we’ve been made aware of recent trespassing, breaking and entering and theft the decision was made to distribute remaing supplies to other organizations that can securly store and disburse as needed. If you are in need of resources we highly suggest you reach out to your local LTRG’s or community resource centers.

Concerning the motel, it CAN reopen once all requirements of the rebuild are met.

The past few weeks have been nothing shy of amazing.

With progress continuing to move forward we have multiple families at different pages of recovery. With new storms happening in ETN, WNC, SWVA and KY we are continuing our efforts of everything fromm daily essentials like food and toiletries to building supplies including lumber and house furnishings.

Recently we have been asked for flooring materials and plumbing supplies.

Current needs:

Food
Bottled Water
Paper Products
Lumber 2x4’s, 2x6’s
Flooring (LVP as it is easy for most to install esp pir volunteers)
Electrical
Plumbing
Appliances

As colder months are upon us, skirting for campers is becoming a need once again
Insulated water hoses
Electric blankets
Solar power

Any spots near Marion for a camper. An older gentlemen had his placed on private land but the owner has passed and now they are threatening to evict and he’s within city limits so the officials are also pushing to have it moved.

We have a home that was hit heavily with flooding. Her well has been filled in with mud and currently in need of water.

If anyone is available to drop off water to a home in Greenville TN please let me know for the address.

Second biggest request for the same home is anyone that has the capability to look and possibly fix her well.
