It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of one of our board members and great friend, Larry Boyd. Our office will be closed Friday, August 7th from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. so our office can attend the funeral services. What a pleasure it has been to serve on the board with an amazing man! Please keep his family in your prayers!
Larry Dwight Boyd
September 6, 1949 – August 4, 2026
Larry Dwight Boyd, age 76, passed away peacefully August 4, 2026, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents William A. and Blue Belle Ginn Boyd as well as his grandparents Talmadge Dewitt and Ira Jordan Ginn and Anthony E. & Mamie Andrews Boyd.
Mr. Boyd graduated from Tylertown High School in 1967. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Agriculture at Mississippi State University. He began his career with Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce in June 1973. He retired in June 2013 as Deputy Director of the MDAC Meat Inspection Division after 40 years of service. Larry thoroughly enjoyed raising cattle. He began raising registered Simmental cattle during his retirement. He enjoyed serving on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors for many years.
Larry was a member of Magee’s Creek Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and taught the Median Adult Sunday School Class.
His greatest joy were his “girls”, Melissa and Jennifer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Kevin Hill and Madison Stringer. He cherished visits from his great grandchildren Beau and Gracie Hill. He married the love of his life, Judy, in 1967. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Mr Boyd is survived by his wife, Judy Boyd; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Trent Stringer, and Jennifer and Greg Hill; grandchildren Kevin and Morgan Hill and Madison Stringer; great grandchildren Beau and Gracie Hill; special aunt Bonnie Rushing; along with many cousins, family, and friends.
A visitation for Mr. Boyd will be held at Magee’s Creek Baptist Church, 174 Darbun Road, Jayess, MS 39641, on Friday, August7, 2026 from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM with Bro. Bill Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Magee’s Creek Cemetery. Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers are Kevin Hill, Mike Evans, Kenny Forbes, Jack Hartley, Jason Mallette, and Adam Rushing.
Honorary pallbearers are Mike Craft, Joey Gonce, Pete Wells, and the Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Post Acute Medical Center in Hammond, LA for outstanding and compassionate care.
