We’re building a “Top 10” list of the most valuable community resources for the parents we serve, and we want your input!

Sometimes the greatest support we can offer a family is simply connecting them to resources they didn’t know existed.

We are not looking to create another giant directory. We want to highlight the top resources families will find most helpful.

Areas may include:

DID YOU KNOW we started a private Facebook group? It’s a protected space for parents in East Texas with Child Protective Services (CPS) involvement to ask questions, get bite-sized parenting tips, and receive advice from parents who have walked this road before.
We want to grow this supportive space to reach as many East Texas parents who have current or past involvement with CPS. “Alumni” parents are especially valuable in this group!

Yesterday, GAPPS served 2 families. An hour apart, and at opposite ends of the healing journey. One was laughter and ice cream, the other we greeted with dinner and listening ears.
Both needed connection.
Both had gaps to fill.

Hi friends! If you received an invite from GAPPS via Facebook Messenger to join a parent support group, that is the result of a lovely bug within Facebook and no known timeline to fix it.

We are creating a private online space for parents with CPS involvement (past & present) to collaborate. The 'host' page/profile for any private group currently auto-invites all the followers to the private group and approves them to join the page, regardless of privacy settings.

As a solution, we created a completely new private group with some creative workarounds (thanks to training videos on YouTube!).

If you ARE a parent who has experienced CPS with your family, we would LOVE for you to join that group. We will share community resources, question/answer forum, parenting tips, and more!

MOMENTS THAT CLOSE GAPPS:
Today, $24.85 at a local Mexican restaurant closed a gap.

A mom is on the brink of bringing her 3 kids home, with only a couple logistics left to iron out.

Over lunch, GAPPS listened and brainstormed. She’s working overnight shifts and sacrificing sleep, all to prepare for her kids to return HOME.

A shared meal may seem simple, but it meets practical, emotional, and relational needs when they matter most. Thank you for your generosity through East Texas Giving Day, because it makes these moments possible.
