What blood types are currently needed?
All of them.
1. The need for donor support is URGENT: Community blood needs are URGENT, meaning patients may experience a delay of 1 –2 days before receiving blood for transfusions.
Some blood types, especially O negative, are in CRITICAL territory, which means the available supply is so limited it can be measured in hours, not days. O negative donors are crucial to the blood supply because their universal blood type can be used to treat any patient, regardless of individual type.

Holidays are often tough on the blood supply as blood donation isn’t top of mind for many.

With Memorial Day approaching, we ask that donors take the chance to plan a donation around their time away for the long weekend, or to plan to give before or during the holiday.

We may have a chance to take a day off, but our local patients’ needs are constant!

As Mothers Day approaches I wanted to share this story from our blog about a mother and her twin daughters who benefited from the gift of live through blood transfusions.

"Volunteer donors gave blood, plasma and platelets before the Prideauxs’ emergent circumstances ever existed; and the blood on the shelf ensured the capable surgeons had the blood products required for the transfusions to help save the young mother’s life and her preemie daughters’.
