Trauma Intervention Programs, Inc. (TIP National)

Trauma Intervention Programs, Inc. (TIP National) TIP is a program which is dedicated to helping people in the immediate aftermath of a trauma, emergency responders and hospital personnel.

TIP, Inc (TIP National) operates programs in Orange County, CA; Long Beach, CA; Lane County, OR, Greater Portland, ME; and Western North Carolina. Trained and dedicated volunteers are called by police officers, firefighters, medical examiners, and emergency department staff to provide immediate support to victims of tragic events. For example, our volunteers are frequently called by police officer

s and firefighters to comfort family members after the sudden, unexpected death of a loved one from either natural or accidental causes. Volunteers are also called by emergency department and ICU personnel to be with dying patients who do not have family members present (the No One Dies Alone program). Our program adds well trained volunteers to the public safety system and to hospital emergency departments. These volunteers are able to assist those emotionally affected by the emergency who the emergency responders do not have the time to assist. Our volunteers arrive within 30 minutes and provide much-needed emotional and practical support.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reminded that support doesn’t always look big or dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like a conversation over coffee, a check-in after a long day, or simply showing up for one another.

Connection is care.
And no one should have to carry life’s difficult moments alone.

At TIP of Long Beach, we believe emotional support and human connection can make a lasting difference — one conversation at a time. ❤️

Pause. Breathe. Rest.

In a world that constantly asks us to keep going, rest can feel impossible — but slowing down is not weakness. Taking a moment to breathe, recharge, and care for yourself is part of protecting your mental health.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, TIP National encourages everyone — especially caregivers, first responders, volunteers, and those supporting others — to make space for rest without guilt.

You deserve care, too.

There are no perfect words for someone’s worst moment.

So TIP Volunteers don’t show up with all the answers.
We show up with compassion, calm, and presence.

That’s Emotional First Aid. ❤️

Sometimes showing up is simple.

It’s checking in on a neighbor. Sitting beside someone. Listening a little longer. Remembering that connection matters — especially on days that may feel heavier than others.

This Memorial Day weekend, may we care for one another with compassion, presence, and community. 🤍

Sometimes the greatest gift is simply sitting with someone, listening, and helping them feel a little less alone. 💙

Thank you to Monica from the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office for sharing this feedback:

“The volunteer was great. She let the family know all of the information regarding the funeral homes and spent time sharing stories with them. I really appreciated her being there.”

Moments like these remind us that compassion is often found in the smallest acts — offering guidance, listening to memories, and simply being present when families need it most.

Checking in matters. 💙

Sometimes support looks like a conversation.

Sometimes it looks like quiet presence.

And sometimes, it is simply letting someone know they are not alone.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, TIP of Long Beach encourages all of us to take a moment to check in with the people around us — friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and even ourselves.

Connection, compassion, and community care can make a meaningful difference.

Compassion, connection, and community have no age.

This Older Americans Month, TIP National recognizes the wisdom, resilience, and contributions of older adults in every community we serve.

The 2026 theme, “Champion Your Health,” reminds us that wellness includes emotional support, human connection, and compassionate care at every stage of life.

At TIP, we believe no one should face crisis, grief, or trauma alone — and that caring communities grow stronger across generations.

The version of you that's tired, still figuring it out, doing their best - that version is enough, too. 💜
