In the afternoon of Day 2, CC Fellows visited NSU Arts Museum to see the exhibit "Frank Stella: Experiment and Change." We were excited to learn that Stella has a wide array of work--ranging from large-scale geometric paintings to giant 3-D paintings. He planned a lot of his large-scale work with sketches and small-scale sculpture. All this meticulous preliminary work spanned an entire room in the exhibition.

This was a great way to top off this art-filled trip, and I'll bet that the CC Fellows will be back to visit very soon. Thanks for a great trip!

In the morning of day 2 of Creative Campus's south Florida adventure, we visited Florida International University's Ratcliffe Arts + Design Incubator. The Ratcliffe Art + Design Incubator is an initiative aimed to promote and foster social entrepreneurship and innovation amongst upcoming FIU artists and designers. We exchanged ideas with Neil Ramsay, Jacek Kolasinski, Doug McCraw, and Ratcliffe Fellows Victoria Yunta and Victoria Carballo about the future of the arts and viewing the arts industry as an investment as opposed to a charity. Thank you so much for your hospitality! It's always great to hear different perspectives and learn about artistic career opportunities that are available in the post-graduate world.

Last week, a few Creative Campus Fellows made the trek to visit FATVillage (Flagler + Arts + Technology), an artistic and technological hub in downtown Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Doug McCraw, FATVillage founder and a Tuscaloosa native, showed us around the artsy wonderland. Our tour started with a special viewing of the exhibition "In Close Proximity," beautifully curated by our new friend Belaxis Buil. We then walked to see several studio and business spaces, including Fine Arts Printmaking, C&I Idea Agency, Cadence Landscape Architecture, FATVIllage Center for the Arts (an Art School), General Provision (Coworking space), Monarchs Cut & Shave, and Brew Urban Cafe. We finished off the day with an artists' reception for "Bees in Mind" at ArtsUP!

This was a wonderful, eye opening experience! It's so exciting to speak with like-minded people and see their projects thriving!

Part of the Creative Campus team is at FATVillage Arts District for the weekend! FAT (Flagler + Arts + Technology) Village is Downtown Fort Lauderdale's Creative enclave. As an art district and a non profit, FATVillage is home to art galleries, artist studios, and businesses. It was created to rally philanthropic support around sustaining an artist community. We are so excited for this opportunity and can't wait to share all about it!

Thanks for making FATVillage Arts District your tour destination!

We are so excited to announce that Graduate Research Fellow Maureen Alice Flint will be presenting her project, C(art)graphic Conjunctions, at two conferences this Summer! First, she will be heading to the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry in May to share her research. Then, in June, she will be traveling to the Arts in Society conference in Vancouver, Canada to discuss C(art)ographic Conjunctions’ “digital assemblage,” i.e. the audio she has collected and mixed from interviews, and the ultimate digital representation of her project. Congratulations, Maureen!
