DCGAL Trip report: Druid City Grotto members practicing their climbing skills while exploring a long cave in Kentucky. We surveyed some new passage, brought an entire buffet with us, learned about underground aid and bolting techniques, checked out Dolly Parton’s better than Bucees truck stop, and discovered the tooth of a Dire Wolf (Aenocyon dirus). Many leads remain for the next trip, which will have many more DCGAL members on board.

Throwback Thursday! This Thursdays post features two reports from the initial pushes in Tumbling Rock. The first one is from April 1960 and details a tree being brought in the cave to be used as a makeshift ladder. The second report is from May 1960, and details the discovery of the kings shower. Since then members of the Druid City Grotto have pushed into Inner Sanctum and Topless Dome, essentially finishing what these 60’s folks started.

This team of 5 extremely devoted cavers are devoted to the exploration, education, and preservation of caves in the TAG area, with some of our members occasionally assisting in projects outside of TAG. We encourage anyone interested in caving to reach out, regardless of skill and experience, as anyone, and we mean ANYONE, is welcome to explore our beautiful worlds underground with the Druid City Grotto.
