Happy Friday from the farm!

Well, Mother Nature had other plans for us this morning, but a little rain has never stopped the farm crew! We’re up, we’re at ’em, and we’re going about our day, just with a little extra roof over our heads and a whole lot of hay underfoot.

The animals are keeping us company, the barn is keeping us dry, and we’re calling that a pretty good start to a Friday. Besides, somebody has to make sure all those muddy noses and hungry bellies are taken care of, rain or shine!

Here’s hoping your Friday is full of little joys, warm smiles, and maybe a cozy spot to hide from the weather, too.

We are looking forward to one of our most cherished annual traditions, our OEI Thanksgiving Dinner and Talent Show, taking place on Wednesday, November 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at East Auburn Baptist Church. It is always a special day filled with laughter, delicious food, wonderful performances, and the simple joy of being together. Izzy has discovered that if you flap your lips dramatically enough, people eventually give you what you want. 🍏

And honestly? She’s not wrong.

“Excuse me. I ordered another apple slice approximately 4 seconds ago.”

The negotiation tactics are aggressive. The face is ridiculous. The apple tax is non-negotiable. 😄

Things got a little crispy at the farm last week! 🍎😁

We had ourselves a friendly little “Apple Crisp” bake-off, with Team Mexico going head-to-head with Team Auburn. Nine entries, plenty of tasting, and more than a few very serious opinions about what makes the perfect apple crisp.

And while every single one was scrumptious, we do have some winners!

First Place: **Sabrina**
Second Place: **Patti**
Most Creative: **Chris**, who isn’t pictured but definitely earned her spot in the apple-crisp hall of fame.

We ate, laughed, sampled our way through nine delicious creations, and had an all-around wonderful time together. A little friendly competition, a lot of good food, and plenty of fun.

We can’t wait to do it again. The apples may have been crisp, but the competition was even crisper!

September Kindness Recap: First Responder Appreciation
September was all about showing a little extra appreciation to the people who are there for our communities when we need them most. As part of our September Kindness Activity, we took time to recognize and thank our local first responders for the important work they do every day.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took a moment to send a card, share a kind word, offer a thank-you, or simply let a first responder know that their service is seen and appreciated. Sometimes a small gesture can mean more than we realize!

October Kindness Activity: Senior Appreciation
As we move into October, our focus shifts to honoring the wisdom, stories, and enduring impact of the older adults in our lives. This month, our kindness activity is "Senior Appreciation"!

Whether it's spending time chatting with an elderly neighbor, sending a thoughtful note to a grandparent, or simply offering a helping hand, let's make this month special for the seniors in our community.

As we head into a new month, take a peek at our October event calendar and see what’s coming up. There are plenty of opportunities to spend time with the animals, enjoy some time outdoors, connect with others, and simply experience the comfort and joy that our farm friends have to offer.
