TARA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on recreational initiatives that promote healthy activity, social connection, learning, play, and stewardship of nature. Tunkhannock Area Recreation Association is a volunteer-led nonprofit corporation that organizes, promotes, and executes a broad range of recreational activities in the Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania area. Tunkhannock LLC, a subset of

the larger organization that focuses on free active outdoor recreational programs for children ages 0-12.

Upcoming activities this week:

Thursday 4/16: participants will use their creativity to make a new musical instrument at Art in the Park - Build Your Own Recycled Drum | Arts Activity. Boom! Boom! 🎨

Friday 4/17: try out some silly character acting and have lots of laughs with Coach Dave at Get Out! & Into Character | Arts Class. Good sir, I am not a banana! 🎭

Saturday 4/18: let the music move you in Family Paint the Music | Arts Activity. How does different music affect the art you create? All ages & families 🎵

Saturday 4/18: follow Family Paint the Music down the spiritual path to Drum Out! Glowing Family Drum Circle | Arts Activity. Bring your own drum or percussion instrument, or borrow one of ours. Don a glow necklace, do some hula hooping, and let the rhythms of Lazybrook Park take you away! We just wanna bang on the drum all day, anyway 🥁

Get out with TARA this weekend. From health & wellness, to art, to nature-- there are lots of Get Out! Tunkhannock activities to enjoy 🌞

🧘Find your inner zen with Family Creekside Qi Gong at Seneca County Park. Friday 4/10 5pm-6pm. All ages.

🎨Get trail-ready and design your own hiking stick at Art in the Park at UMC Pavilion. Sticks and materials provided. Friday 4/10 5pm-6:30pm. All ages.

🐟Get out for trout by helping stock trout at Lake Winola and Oxbow Lake. Lake Winola boat launch. Saturday 4/11 12:30pm-2pm. All ages.

⚾Watch the big game at the Sandlot Spring Classic adult baseball fundraiser. Concessions available. Art Keefer Field. 3pm-7pm. Public welcome.

In our first program month under TARA we served 219 families, had over 500 unique participants, and recorded nearly 900 total program registrations.

We will help lead and facilitate any program possible within our mission scope. If you have something you would like to see better represented in the community, please reach out to us.
