This week, we recognize the educators who do more than teach they shape how students understand the world.

From history lessons to critical thinking, teachers play a vital role in preparing the next generation to engage thoughtfully with complex topics.

We appreciate the work you do every day.

The Holocaust didn’t happen overnight.
It grew in moments of silence.
In overlooked warning signs.
In voices that went unheard.

History challenges us with a question:
When it matters most will we speak up!

Marcel Marceau, born Marcel Mangel, the world famous mime joined the French Resistance as a teenager, after his father was taken and killed at Auschwitz. Using his skills as a mime, Marcel helped to save 70 to several hundred children, smuggling them from occupied France to Switzerland. His mime skills calmed the children and showed them how to keep quiet as they were being smuggled out of France.

Shannon Daye, teacher in Verdigris, wrote to say: The work you do spreads! Receiving a grant, our assistant librarian was able to purchase Holocaust books for our library AND daffodil bulbs for our Daffodil Holocaust Project. Last fall my Civics class planted the bulbs as a community service project. Check out the photo. Those flowers were so beautiful in the spring when they blossomed. Spread the word, Teachers and do this project at your school!

Across the U.S. and around the world, people gather to observe Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Through moments of silence, candle-lighting ceremonies, and survivor testimonies, communities honor those who were lost and those who survived.

These observances keep memory alive and reinforce why education and awareness matter.
