Maybe your spouse isn’t the problem. Maybe you’re looking to them for something only God can give.

At some point, every marriage will expose our unmet expectations. Your spouse will disappoint you, fall short, and fail to meet every need... and so will you!

But that doesn’t mean you married the wrong person. It means your spouse was never meant to be your source of ultimate satisfaction.

Only Jesus can satisfy the deepest places in our hearts.

This is such a good reminder for marriage: stop asking your spouse to give you what only God can provide.

It's easy to think marriage transformation requires a big romantic gesture.
But sometimes influence looks like:
A kiss before leaving.
A text in the middle of the day.
Making your spouse a cup of coffee.
Holding their hand.
Saying, “I'm glad I married you.”
Small deposits create a strong marriage account.

Action Item: Make one intentional deposit into your marriage today.

Love is an act of service, not following a feeling.

Satan will attack you. Notice that after God created marriage in Genesis 2:24-25, marriage was under attack in the very next chapter, Genesis 3:1. There isn't a single verse of separation before Satan goes after what God had created. As the father of lies, he will try to convince you that your marriage “will never work,” “is too hard,” or “would be easier with someone else.”

So heed the apostle Peter's instruction and “be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8). Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual powers of darkness. (Ephesians 6:12).

Surround yourself and your spouse with prayer. Stay humble, accountable, and ever seeking God. Pray for the armor of God over your spouse and yourself daily. We are stronger together, a three-strand-cord with Christ.

We're back from a beautiful Fall foliage trip through New England - and amazing temps! Now we're back to 90 degree weather, and I still want to be wearing my sweatshirts! Back to reality!
I love these fun high points together, but I want to make sure we feel just as connected and supported when we settle into the busy, day-to-day routine. Don't take your every day moments together for granted.

Happy 1st day of October! Fall is my favorite season! I love all the beautiful colors God has provided us. I’m traveling through New England with my best friend! Today we’re at a c***r mill in Vermont.
Traveling together is fun and exciting, but also sometimes frustration and impatience can exhibit themselves. Remember to show each other grace and enjoy the goodness of each day!
