Greenwood Legacy Corporation is extending the application period for its Board of Directors through July 20, 2026.

GLC is seeking community members committed to Greenwood’s legacy, community-led redevelopment, and the full implementation of the Kirkpatrick Heights Greenwood Master Plan.

This is an opportunity to help guide strategy, strengthen accountability, and support long-term community benefit for Greenwood and North Tulsa.

Deadline approaching to nominate Greenwood elders.

Greenwood Legacy Corporation is still accepting nominations for its Council of Elders, an advisory body created to help guide this work with wisdom, cultural grounding, lived experience, and deep commitment to the well-being of Black Tulsans.

Nominate an elder who has demonstrated integrity, service, leadership, and care for the Greenwood and North Tulsa community.

Nominations are currently scheduled to close Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Reminder: Greenwood Legacy Corporation will host its next Community-Wide Public Meeting tomorrow, Saturday, June 27, at 10:00 AM.

Join us at Emerson Elementary Auditorium, 910 MLK Boulevard, for an update on the next phase of community-led redevelopment in Kirkpatrick Heights and Greenwood.

Guests will hear from GLC leadership and TIFIA consultants, who will share progress on area improvements funded through a U.S. Department of Transportation grant.

Greenwood Legacy Corporation Board applications are now open.

GLC is expanding its Board of Directors by adding six new members: one representative from the Elders’ Council, one representative from the forthcoming Resident Council, and four additional community members.

We are seeking Tulsans committed to Greenwood’s legacy and the full implementation of the Kirkpatrick Heights Greenwood Master Plan. Ideal applicants bring integrity, collaboration, and experience as North Tulsa residents, business owners, or leaders in community development, nonprofit governance, finance, or law.

Greenwood Legacy Corporation continues to receive technical assistance from the W. Haywood Burns Institute as part of its ongoing work to implement the Kirkpatrick Heights / Greenwood Master Plan.

On May 15, 2026, staff from the W. Haywood Burns Institute were onsite with GLC Board members to provide a policy framework on Community Benefit Agreements. The discussion focused on how community-centered development tools can help advance projects tied to the Master Plan while supporting long-term economic opportunity, asset growth, and generational wealth creation.

As GLC moves forward, this work remains centered on ensuring that future development in Kirkpatrick Heights and Greenwood reflects community priorities, strengthens local ownership opportunities, and contributes to lasting benefits for North Tulsa residents.

Greenwood Legacy Corporation is calling on our community to help identify and nominate elders whose wisdom, character, and lived experience can guide the next chapter of Greenwood. The Council of Elders will preserve our history, foster unity, and provide moral and cultural guidance as we implement the Kirkpatrick Heights / Greenwood Master Plan. If you know someone whose example reflects the spirit of elderhood, please nominate them by May 30. They could be knowledge keepers, community advisors, or recognized leaders.

The work continues.

On Wednesday, May 13, Tulsa City Council voted to keep the $5 million in Improve Our Tulsa 3 funding prioritized for the Kirkpatrick Heights / Greenwood Master Plan, with management of the funds moving to TEDC Creative Capital.

Greenwood Legacy Corporation is grateful to the residents, community members, and partners who showed up, spoke up, and helped protect the intended purpose of these funds.

We look forward to working with TEDC, TDA, PartnerTulsa, the City of Tulsa, and community stakeholders to help make the vision of the Master Plan a reality.

This next phase is about moving from input to action. Stay connected, attend upcoming GLC community events, join our distribution list, and help shape the work ahead.

This plan was shaped through years of community conversations, public input, and advocacy. The $5M in Improve Our Tulsa 3 funding was approved to support projects in the Kirkpatrick Heights / Greenwood Master Plan target area.

Now is the time to protect that commitment.
