Helpless Hounds Helpless Hounds is a Tulsa, OK based 501(c)(3) non profit breed-specific rescue for scent hounds.

Helpless Hounds is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill, breed-specific hound dog rescue organization in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are dedicated to helping hounds who are left homeless for whatever reason – in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, hounds given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. We plac

e our hounds in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a hound dog into their homes and lives. Hounds in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist hound dogs in distress without regard to age, or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, hounds in the greatest need take priority. We are determined to keep administrative expenses extremely low so that virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the hound dog beyond the adoption process. Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless hounds.

Every single one of Silver's puppies has found their family. Now it's her turn.

Silver has started heartworm treatment and is doing great so far. She's currently in foster in Oklahoma City and will need to stay local to Tulsa/OKC for the next 2-3 months while she finishes treatment.

She'd love a big fenced yard to run around in and some space to follow that nose wherever it wants to go.

If you're in her area, Silver could be adopted now and finish out her treatment as part of your family. If you're outside the area, she'll be available for adoption anywhere in the country once she's fully recovered in a couple months.

This girl has been through a lot- found starving and pregnant at a gas station, gave birth to a huge litter of puppies just days later, and now she's fighting heartworms. She's handled every bit of it with a whole lot of goofy, loving energy, and she deserves a family of her own.

Meet Daisy - eight years old, all ears, and ready to become somebody's favorite couch companion.

She's sweet with everyone she meets, gets along great with other dogs, and has years of practice being gentle with kids. She's even lived alongside horses, chickens, and cattle without a single complaint - basically the easiest roommate you could ask for. Cats, though, are not on the guest list.

Those short little legs have carried her through eight good years, and they've got plenty of couch naps and belly rubs left to go. Daisy is ready for a family to call her own.

Billy Bob is the kind of dog who makes you wonder what you were even doing before you had him.

He is a one year old coonhound- 55 lbs of speckles, long ears, and a paintbrush tail that curls up at the end. He's house trained, crate trained, trustworthy home alone, and has a solid command repertoire sit, come, look, shake, leave it. He walks well on a long leash, gets along with other dogs, and greets people like he's genuinely delighted to see them, which he is, because Billy Bob is just like that.

He loves bones, loves treats, and settles into home life like he's always been there. The kind of dog who follows you from room to room, checks in often, and then flops down nearby because he just wants to be part of whatever you're doing.

Easy, affectionate, and good- Billy Bob is the whole package.

Koda is a playful, affectionate young hound who's ready to find people of his own.

He does well on a leash, loves to fetch and will bring the ball or toy right back to you, and he's completely potty trained. He's not bothered by cats- doesn't bark, doesn't seem interested one way or the other. He's working on basic commands though it's slow going with his sister around as a distraction- he'll likely pick it up fast once he's got someone's full attention.

Koda's a people-oriented guy. He clearly bonds with his person- he gets excited to see familiar faces and he's the kind of dog who wants to be included, not just fed and let out. He's been doing well his mountain of toys and is pretty trustworthy for a young pup with this much energy.

He's got plenty of it too- he's active and will do best with room to run and time to burn it off. This happy guy is ready for a family who can give him real companionship and opportunities to play and have fun!

Chloe is an absolute blast. She's got that classic coonhound zoom, the kind where she's tearing across a yard one minute and then flopped on the couch demanding belly rubs the next. She wants a partner in crime for both- a dog to play with, a yard to run in, and someone who thinks her energy is the best part of her.

She's crazy smart and food motivated, so training is genuinely fun with her- she picks things up fast and loves having a job to do. And she gives just as much as she gets- she's snuggly and affectionate too.

Here's the thing about Maybelle: the only question she's ever gotten is whether she's cat friendly. (She's not- she'll tell you herself, loudly.) But that's it. That's the only question anyone's asked about this girl.

Meanwhile, no one's asked if she's house trained (she is). No one's asked if she's crate trained (also yes). No one's asked if she's good with other dogs (yes) or great with people (absolutely). No one's asked about her leash manners, her sit, her snuggle skills, or those eyebrows everyone loves. Just... cats.

Maybelle is a 2 year old Bluetick Coonhound who's got just about everything going for her, minus a family who's asked the right questions yet. She's ready and waiting.

Otis is a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix who has quietly become one of the most well-rounded dogs ever fostered- and it shows in every part of his day to day.

He's kid friendly, dog friendly, and genuinely easygoing- he's never met a person or dog he didn't like. He's just as happy on an adventure as he is curled up on the couch, and he's turned into a regular at coffee shop patios, where he lies down and waits patiently for someone to come say hi.

Otis is house trained, crate trained, and already knows an e-collar- he responds to the beep by heading straight to your feet and settling into a heel. He's a quick learner, motivated by food and toys, and picks up new skills fast- he took to scent work almost instantly the first time he tried it. He also loves a good game of tug or fetch.

He needs a secure fence, a sturdy crate, and an active family. He does best in a cat-free home, or with a cat confident enough to put him in his place.

Otis is easy, affectionate, and ready- he just needs someone to give him the chance.
