Feeling a little Pandemic PTSD. How can we best serve our community? What is our role? How do we make sure our circle of customers continue to have access to food? Running a mobile and micro grocery store in a food desert, serving elderly, disabled and families, our primary focus is ensuring SNAP users have access to real and good food. We will still accept cash, debit, credit, DUO bucks and Cherokee food cards. Your SNAP balances will roll over! You can still use the funds on your card. We still
have fruit cups for a couple more weeks as we use the last of our local watermelons. We have purchased 1000 gift cards to provide to our SNAP customers to fill in the gaps, to purchase what they need, as they need it. We are asking our supporters to donate what they can to help us put funds on these cards to give out to those with SNAP cards. We are providing recipes cards that can stretch ingredients to make meals. Our kitchen is making meals to give out to families using produce from our farm. If we all do a small part to help our neighbors wherever we are, our circles can make a difference. If you are a customer, please know we will be operating normal hours. Come see us, let is know how you are doing and how we can help you find the resources you need. Our mission is to “overcome barriers to healthy food access”. This, right now, is a pretty big barrier. As a nonprofit, our job is to run in to the fire. I see all my fellow nonprofits running fast, working over time, doing what they do best. Please support your favorite nonprofit, even if its not us. 😉
