❤️🩹 Remember DiDi? ❤️🩹
This sweet girl came to OPCS from an animal cruelty case in Drumright, Oklahoma back in early June.
We are incredibly grateful that the City of Drumright took what happened to DiDi seriously and that her previous owner was charged with animal cruelty.
When we first stepped in and pulled DiDi from the shelter, she was in terrible shape. She was extremely emaciated, heartworm positive, and she could barely walk. We immediately got her to our vet, where she was hospitalized and began what we knew was going to be a long journey to recovery.
Her medical care has had to happen one step at a time.
She gained weight. ❤️
She got stronger. ❤️
She completed her heartworm treatment. ❤️
And just look at her now. She looks AMAZING.
We’re attaching some before and after photos so you can see DiDi’s transformation for yourself. Not just the incredible difference in her weight, but the difference in her. You can actually see this sweet girl learning what it feels like to be loved, cared for properly, and to know that she is finally safe. ❤️🩹
But we still have one big hurdle left.
We now know why DiDi continues to struggle with walking and why she is still in pain. She has torn ACLs in BOTH of her back knees. 😭
DiDi needs TPLO surgery, and we are looking at around $6,000 to get it done.
This girl has already been through SO much. We want to finish what we started and give her the chance to finally live without needing daily pain medication just to be comfortable. We want her to be able to run, play and just be a normal dog without every step hurting.
And somehow, after everything humans have put her through, DiDi is still one of the sweetest and best behaved dogs you could ever meet. She has every reason not to trust us, but she does. ❤️
