Serving Those Who Serve 🏛️

Leadership often means carrying responsibilities that most people never see.

At Capitol Culture, one of our greatest privileges is simply being present for those who serve—offering encouragement, a listening ear, prayer, and pastoral care when it’s needed.

Jesus gave us the model for leadership:

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve...” — Mark 10:45

That’s at the heart of what we do.

No political agenda. No lobbying. Simply showing up, building relationships, praying, and serving those who serve.

The work in front of you today is the ministry.

A new week brings new responsibilities, new opportunities, and plenty of things competing for your attention. Scripture reminds us that how we work matters.

Whether you're leading an organization, serving a community, raising a family, teaching a classroom, or simply doing the task in front of you — you're called to do it with purpose.

Work isn't only about recognition, position, or accomplishment. It's a chance to serve others, lead with integrity, and honor God through what you've been entrusted with.

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." — Colossians 3:23 (ESV)

As you begin this week, ask yourself: how can I use the work God has placed in front of me to serve someone else well?

Have a great week. 🏛️🙏

God Remains Sovereign

Tomorrow is Election Day in Oklahoma and the final opportunity to cast a ballot in the runoff election.

Elections matter. Leadership matters. Our participation matters.

But as followers of Christ, our hope has never rested in an election result.

Scripture reminds us that even the hearts of kings are ultimately in the hands of God. Administrations change. Leaders come and go. Political seasons shift. God remains sovereign.

So as Oklahoma votes, let's participate faithfully, pray earnestly, and treat one another with civility—regardless of who we support or what tomorrow's results may bring.

Pray for the candidates and their families. Pray for voters and election workers. And pray for those who will be entrusted with leadership.

The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes."* — **Proverbs 21:1

If you haven't already voted, make your voice heard tomorrow.

And whatever the outcome, may our confidence remain firmly in the One who is still on the throne. 🙏

Praying for Oklahoma Schools

As a new school year begins, thousands of students, teachers, administrators, and staff across Oklahoma are stepping into a new season.

Today, we pause to pray for them.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we lift up the schools across Oklahoma. Give our teachers wisdom, patience, and strength as they invest in the next generation. Protect our students, help them grow in knowledge and character, and surround them with people who will encourage and guide them well.

Give administrators and school leaders wisdom in the decisions they make, and bring peace and unity to our school communities.

May this school year be filled with opportunities to learn, serve, grow, and reflect Your love to others.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

"For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." — Proverbs 2:6

Character matters.

In a world that often celebrates power, God calls us to something greater: justice, mercy, and humility.

These qualities aren't just for those in public office—they're for every one of us. As we pray for our leaders this week, may we also ask God to shape our own hearts to reflect His character.

May Oklahoma be known not only for strong leadership, but for people who pursue justice, extend kindness, and walk humbly with God.

"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"
— Micah 6:8

🙏 Join us in praying that these virtues would guide every leader and every citizen across our state.

Praying for Those Who Serve

As we head into the weekend, let's take a moment to pray for the men and women who faithfully serve our communities every day.

Whether they're first responders, military personnel, educators, healthcare workers, pastors, public servants, or community leaders, many carry burdens that are never seen. Their work often requires sacrifice, wisdom, and perseverance.

Today, let's ask God to strengthen them for the calling He has placed before them.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for those who dedicate their lives to serving others. Grant them wisdom in every decision, courage in every challenge, and peace in every uncertain moment. Protect them and their families, encourage them when they grow weary, and remind them that their work matters. May they lead with integrity, serve with compassion, and find renewed strength in You each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2

🙏 Join us in praying for someone who serves our communities today. If someone comes to mind, feel free to mention them in the comments so we can pray for them together.

From the Statehouse

Sometimes the most meaningful ministry isn't found in a speech or a meeting.

It's found in being present.

A conversation in the hallway.
A quiet prayer before a difficult day.
A moment to listen without rushing.
An opportunity to encourage someone carrying more than others may realize.

As a chaplain, I've learned that presence matters. We don't always have the perfect words, but we can choose to show up, care well, and remind people they are not alone.

That's part of the mission of Oklahoma Capitol Culture—to serve those who serve through prayer, encouragement, and Christ-centered care.

"Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn." — Romans 12:15

Who has simply "been there" for you during a difficult season? Take a moment to thank them today.

Praying for Oklahoma Families

Strong communities begin with strong families.

This Friday, we're praying for every family across Oklahoma—parents raising children, grandparents sharing wisdom, single parents carrying heavy responsibilities, foster and adoptive families, and every home seeking God's peace.

May our homes be places where faith is lived out, love is demonstrated, forgiveness is practiced, and hope is found.

Today, let's pause and ask God to strengthen the families of our state.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we lift up the families of Oklahoma to You. Strengthen marriages, encourage parents, protect children, and give wisdom to every home. Help us to love one another well, extend grace freely, and build our lives on Your truth. May our homes reflect Your peace and Your presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.

"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." — Joshua 24:15

How can we pray for your family this weekend? We'd be honored to pray with you. 🙏

Faith Shapes Culture

Every leader faces moments when the right decision isn’t obvious.

The good news is that God doesn’t expect us to navigate those moments alone. Scripture tells us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask Him—and He gives generously.

Whether you’re leading a family, a business, a classroom, a church, or serving in public office, wisdom is one of God’s greatest gifts.

This week, let’s pray that God would give wisdom to those who lead and to each of us as we influence the people around us.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.” — James 1:5
