🌟 Employee Spotlight | Patrick 🌟

Patrick’s journey has included family loss, addiction, homelessness, and setbacks. But through it all, the faith his mother nurtured in him helped him hold on to hope. When Patrick came to Gospel Rescue Mission, he found more than a place to stay—he found an opportunity to rebuild his life and begin again.

Patrick worked hard through GRM’s programs, including Workforce Development, where he strengthened his job skills, learned about emotional intelligence, and discovered how serving others could help prepare him for the workplace.

With a background as a baker, Patrick found a natural fit at Opportunity Coffee & Cafe He completed a cafe internship, continued into manager training, and kept taking on new responsibilities.

Today, Patrick is the Assistant Manager at Opportunity Coffee & Cafe! ☕👏

His journey is a powerful example of what can happen when opportunity meets hard work, determination, faith, and a willingness to grow. And now, Patrick has the opportunity to use what he has learned to serve others and help create that same sense of hope and possibility for those following behind him.

We’re grateful to have Patrick as part of the GRM team and proud to see him continuing to grow as a leader.

MEET ANTON!

Anton’s testimony is a powerful story of how God can turn recovery into true transformation. After walking through a deep recovery process and facing layers of past trauma, Anton realized that simply “functioning” wasn’t enough he wanted a life filled with purpose, intention, and hope.

Through GRM and our cafe internship, he’s learning how to bring his “brain back online for work” showing up on time, completing tasks, taking healthy breaks, and rebuilding the mindset it takes to thrive in the workplace after nearly a year out of work. Today, Anton is focused on finding meaningful, long-term work that uses his strengths, supports a healthy lifestyle, and allows him to be both blessed and a blessing to others. His story is a living picture of moving from “just surviving” to walking in God given purpose.

MEET CELESTE!

Behind her warm smile is a story of resilience, courage, and unshakable faith.

Celeste lost both of her parents by the age of 16 and had to learn how to survive on her own. Years later, after facing an unsafe relationship, she made the brave decision to leave and seek a better life for herself and her daughter.

When she came to Gospel Rescue Mission, she was praying for more than a place to stay. She was praying for a true fresh start.

Today, Celeste has gained full custody of her daughter and is a new intern at Opportunity Coffee & Cafe, working hard, growing in confidence, and opening doors she once thought were closed forever.

Every step she takes is a reminder that God can turn pain into purpose and hardship into hope.

Meet Robert!

For most of his life, alcohol and addiction tried to write his story. After more than a dozen treatment programs and countless attempts to get back on his feet, he came to Gospel Rescue Mission not just looking for sobriety, but for real transformation. ❤️

Today, Robert is an intern at Opportunity Coffee & Cafe, where every cup he serves is a reminder that God can bring beauty from ashes and turn a life ground down by addiction into a story of hope. He’ll tell you that the turning point came when he stopped blaming others, surrendered his pride, and chose to believe that God still had a purpose for him.

Now, instead of serving those who “had it all,” he finds joy in serving people who are rebuilding their lives just like he is one step, one prayer, and one shift at a time.
