Companion Animal Care Team & Urban Sanctuary The mission of Companion Animal Care Team & Urban Sanctuary is two-fold.

Founded in 2025 and based in Tucson, AZ the Companion Animal Care Team & Urban Sanctuary (CACTUS) is a veterinarian-founded non-profit aimed at keeping pets with their people and out of shelters. We aim to prevent animal homelessness by providing veterinary resources, education, and support for responsible pet ownership, thereby reducing the need for shelter placement and improving the well-being of both people and animals. We also aim to provide sanctuary to the geriatric or otherwise vulnerable pet populations in southern Arizona.

A couple weeks ago CACTUS did our first neuter clinic for owned pets of Pinal County! This county in AZ does not have any low/no cost spay/neuter clinics. All of the pets did great and we are so happy to be able to help this population of pets 🐈🐕Our work in Pinal County is only possible with the help of the people and resources of Pinal County Animal Care and Control 🌵💚To donate to provide more of these clinics: donation link in bio or Zelle: [email protected]

So flattered that the ASPCA asked CACTUS to share their surgical skills to teach the life-saving feline perineal urethrostomy to shelter vets. Meanwhile CACTUS gets to dive deeper into the world of access to, and spectrum of, care from some of the world leaders.
