Today, the Southern Arizona Nurse Honor Guard pauses to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the extraordinary courage of those who answered the call to help.
We remember the first responders who ran toward danger.
We remember the nurses, physicians, and healthcare workers who stood ready to care for the injured.
We remember the families whose lives were forever changed.
And we remember a nation that came together in the face of unimaginable loss.
As nurses, service is woven into who we are. Today, we honor all those who served, sacrificed, cared, comforted, and carried others through one of our nation's darkest days.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Happy Labor Day from the Southern Arizona Nurse Honor Guard! 🇺🇸
Today we celebrate the nurses who spend their careers caring, comforting, advocating, teaching, and showing up when people need them most.
And to our Nurse Honor Guard members, thank you for continuing that service by honoring our fellow nurses and supporting their families. ❤️
Your time is volunteered. Your compassion is freely given. And the difference you make is immeasurable.
Today, we hope you get a chance to put your feet up, enjoy something cold, and remember...
Even nurses are allowed to clock out! 😉

The Southern Arizona Nurse Honor Guard is seeking compassionate nurses who may be interested in joining our mission. We provide a final tribute to nurses who have passed, recognizing their years of service, dedication, and care.

Whether you are an LPN, RN, or NP—active, retired, or no longer working at the bedside—there may be a place for you among us. No military experience is required, and you can participate as your schedule allows.

We are so proud of our member Krista for winning this award! It is a pleasure having her serve in our SANHG!

Join us in celebrating Krista Mantica, RN, the 2026 recipient of the Diana Karina Robles Lizarraga Memorial Scholarship.

Krista has been caring for our community at Onvida Health since 2022 and is deeply connected to the nursing community, volunteering with the Yuma County Nurses Foundation and Arizona Nurses Association, serving on the board of Rio Colorado Chapter 7 and honoring lives as a member of the Southern Arizona Nurses Honor Guard. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing and plans to continue into the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at Grand Canyon University.

This scholarship honors Diana, a beloved ICU nurse remembered for her compassion, mentorship and dedication to her fellow nurses. Established by her loved ones, it reflects her passion for education and is awarded each year on her birthday, April 20.

This year, thanks to the generosity of Dr. Shawn Hermeanu, the scholarship has been endowed, continuing her legacy by supporting future nurses for generations to come.
