We gather on Wednesday mornings from 7:00 to 8:30am at the Hungry Fox Restaurant, located at 4637 East Broadway. Join us to see how you can help serve the community!
Guest: Two military men, Hawkins and Otero, came to speak.
Speakers: Stan, Ken, Devin (cowboys) - Tucson Rodeo Parade will have 500+ horses and some wagons. Some are famous historical wagons and 11 marching bands and more. It will be held on Feb 26 (Thursday) with pre activities at 8am on Drexel and 12th. The fee is $15/adults or $10 for children for Grand Stand tickets. It will be covered on TV. Usually 120,000 to 200,000 people attend. About 200 volunteers and various organizations. Lions, Rotary, Knights of Columbus, and 5 High School Teams help.
Lion of the Month: Lion Larren - Poem about horses pulling and kicking. Happiness is not having what you want but wanting what you have. Barrel races are amazing.
Privilege Badge: Lion Sandy Shiff - John Mather wanted to know about stars so he dreamed about the James Weber telescope. There is a show you can watch to see how they folded up something the size of a tennis court and shot it out past the moon. Yahoo! Next week is BIG HAT DAY. Wear cowboy garb.
Challenge: We are holding a competition between Evens and Odds for new Membership. We will not charge for LCI membership dues for new members all year. We need to get more members involved
in the events that we already have. Ideas - Ask people personally
to join you and to commit. For example - We will make cotton candy and sell pizza and candy. If there is a carpool or a special
place to park, it also helps. Mentor new members. Work in pairs. Wear Lions logo wherever you go. Tell everyone it is expecte
ld for people to participate. We can assign activities to people.
We serve in many ways.
Reminder: Lions Foundation will match funds up to $5000 for diabetes awareness for those who apply for grants 30-60 days in advance.
